' My-present invention relates to improvements in c lub heads for golf clubs or the like, and in particular to a head composed of molded and vulcanized rubber.

Y Clubs such as drivers, spoons and brassiesv are usually s o large in size as to be too heavy when of solid material, for example wood or metal, and it is dilicult to. obtain a4 well balanced one when employing these ma` terials, or to duplicate properly balancedv ones when produced. For this reason at tempts have been made toovercome the disor formin z F1 ure 2; and f advantages by casti-n hollow metal bodies, eadsv with recesses to wooden receive ba ancing weights. v

It is the object of these improvements to produce a readily duplicatable head of homogeneous resilient material of just the right weight and balance desired, by the use ofmoldable rubberv composition which is so vulcanized as toproduce a'- relatively hard but non-frangible body yhaving an in'- yterior o f sponge rubber by means of which the durability and resiliency vor elasticity of such heads is increased, while insuring against thedefect of overwei ht.

The vulcanizing, therefore, may be said to be carried 5 on slmultaneously interiorly and exteriorly. Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is 1. As a new article of manufacture, a club head composed oflmolded vulcanized rubber composition having a dense outer wall anda porous center yat one side of its median axis.

2. As anew article of manufacture, a club head composed of molded vulcanized rubber composition having a relatively hard, outer wall and a homogeneous porous core havin the characteristics of sponge rubber, sai core being arranged remote from the striking face of the head.

3. As a new article of manufacture, a club head composed of molded vulcanized rubber composition having a dense outer wall and a orous center, and a shaft bushing fixed wlthin the body by the vulcanization of the same, said bushin being arranged at one side of the head an the porous center at the other side.

4. As a new article of manufacture, a club so head composed of molded vulcanized rubber composition having a dense outer wall and a orous center, and a metallic bushing of eat conducting material extending into the solid section of the body. p 5.
