gratings and more or sectional floor like.
It is an object of my invention to provide connection.
Another object vide a grating connection in supporting the a simple and effective type of floor grating of my'invention is.to prowhich will assist adjacent grating.
provide a grating deflection of one grating section will be transmittedcao the adjacent section.
A further object .is
connection which of the sections with ige provide a gratiig will prevent the shifting respect to each other.
Other objects and advantages will present themselves and become apparent from the following specification,
is made to the wherein in which reference accompanying drawing,
The figure is a perspective view of a grating connection embodying my Referring more particularly show a iioor grating generally having ing, I sections l and 2,
invention. to the drawrespectively, the sections comprising longitudinal members 3 space from each other by cross members 4, which, in the embodiment shown herein, appear as passing through by tongues means. may be by any usually at the end members 3 and appropriately secured in place in apertures therein 5 or other suitable Vsecuring The main support for the gratingsv satisfactory means but is s of the longitudinal members 8. Cross members A occur at intervals along the longitudinal members and have their extending ends split as at 6, the two portions 7 and 8 being bent or curved outwardly horizontally in opposite directions,-
that is to say, the upper bent portions of each member 4 being bent of an axis passing cross members when the same. This on opposite sides horizontally through the looking downwardly at arrangement is such that when the adjacent sections are placed together the upper bent portions 7 will overlap each other and portion 7 of each member 4 will be above th 5o section member.
e portion 8 of the adjacent This results in a connec- .to limit my invention tion in which any tendency to depress or lift one section will be transmitted to the adjacent section and, by the overlapping of the tain the grating sections in spaced relation to eachother and horizontal movement of one section will be resisted by the next one in any direction except direct separation.
AThis grating connection is interlocking and reversible, being such that any grating section can be reversed end for end and still interlock with all lthe adjacent sections.
It is thus seen that I have provided a very useful and effective grating section connection and one which is simple to construct and efficient in operation.
The embodiment shown and described herein is illustrative only and l do not wish to the exact form as changes and modifications may be' made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
1 claim:
1. A connection for floor grating sections and the like having longitudinal members and cross members, comprising cross members having their end Ortions deflected from `the normal plane of) said cross members whereby to ei'ect supporting engagement with an adjacent grating section.
2. A connection for Hoor gratings and the like having longitudinal and transverse members, comprising cross members having their end portions deflected opposit'ely wit respect to the normal plane of said cross members Whereby'to providemeans for supporting and spacing the adjacent sections.
3. A connection for iioor gratings and the like having longitudinal and transverse members, comprising cross members having their end portions terminating in a plurality of divergently deected tongue portions adapted to co-operate with corresponding end portions of cross members of the adjacent sections.
` curved '25 'of August, 1929.
like having longitudinal and transverse members, comprlslng cross members having their end portions split fonning a plurality of tongues bent alternately outwardly from the normal lane of said cross members adapted to a ord interlocking and supporting connections with the corresponding members of the adjacent sections.
5. A connection for Hoor gratings and the like having longitudinal and transverse members, comprislng cross members having their ends split forming a plurality o tongues bent alternately outwardly and horto provide a connection o izontally whereby adapted to support and brace corresponding members of the adjacent sections.
6. A connection for floor gratings and the like having longitudinal and transverse members, comprising cross members consistin of substantially fiat bars dis osed at rig t anglesuto the plane of the sai longitudinal members and having their ends terminating in a plurality of separated ortions extending alternately outwardly for forming a two-part connection adapted for supporting and spacing the ad'acent sections.
