ffwdalzo zleizmrl 2 ATTORNEY Patented May 27, 1930 UNITED STATES zrosn LEANDRO MONTALVO GUENARD, or rolvcn, @Pontno' 31cc WOMB MEDICAL arr'nIcA'roR Application filed December 13, 1928. Serial No. 325,801.
This invention relates to medicinal applicators.
It is among the objects of the present invention to provide a novel and improved 5 medicinal applicator particularly adapted for the application of medicament to the wombs cervix and associated portions of the female anatomy. v
With these and other objects of th-einvention in view, there is provided a simple, efficient structure particularly adapted to the demands of economic manufacture and one designed for ready application and removal, and which will not irritate the user. Referring more particularly to the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of one form of my present invention;
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same form of the invention;
Fig. 8 is a sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Referring more particularly to the drawings the invention includes a semi-flexible annular ring 10, of the cross section as illustrated in Fig. 3, the ring being hollow with its outer and upper and lower faces curved and its inner face provided with a recessed portion 11. Formed within the recess 11,
there is provided a plurality of preferably in- V tegral loops 12. As illustrated, the preferable arrangement of myinvention includes the positioning of the recess 11 and its associated loops 12 approximately two-thirds the distance from the top of the ring 10. It will be understood that the positioning of the recess and its associated loops is a. matter of choice and may depart from the specific illustration here given. 7 40 For holding suitable solid or semi-viscous V medicament, there is provided a bag 13 formed of substantially closely meshed threads, and being substantially semi-spherical. The upper edges of the bag 13 are sein association with thering 10. V
For assistingin the removal of the appli- I cured to the loops 12, thus securing'the bag 1 cator, the lower center of the bag 13 is provided with a cord 14, which while the applicator is used is adapted to extend out-of the with sa body of the user, whereby the applicator may bereadily removed by tension upon the cord. In use of the present device,, thev desired quantity of medicament is placed on gauze within the bag embracing the cervix, the semi-resiliency or flexibility of the ring 10 being adapted to maintain the device in the proper position without annoyance to the user. After the i 69 desired length of time of application has expired, the device may be readily removed by simply withdrawing the same by the use of the cord 14. I
By the structure herein disclosed which 96, provides a substantially inflated ring,.a soft yielding surface is provided, whereby irritation of the parts is avoided, and by the provision of the recess 11 within which the loops 7 12 are provided, a smooth inner surface is 32 formed, whereby the embedded loops 12 will not come into contact with the cervix when in position in the vaginal vault.
Numerous changes and modifications of the present invention and the full use of equivalents -may obviously be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention.
What is claimed is:
1. A- medicinal applicator, including an annular ring of semi-flexible material, and a mesh medicinereceiving bag associated therewith, said bag being associated with said ring through inwardly extending loops formed-in-' tegral with said ring, said bag being asso- ,8,
ciated with said ring to close the aperture thereof. I r
2. A medicinal applicator including an annular ring of semi-flexible material, a. mesh medicine receiving bag associated therewith, 2 said bag'being associated with said ring through inwardly extending loops formed integral with said ring, and a cord associated id bag and adapted toextend out from the body of the user.
3. A medicinal applicator, includingan 1i annular ring, loops'formed integral with said ring and extending from the inner face thereof, a medicine receiving bagsecured to said loops, and a cord associated with said bag.
13, and the ring 10 applied I about the depending portion of the womb and 4. A medicinal applicator, including an annular ring semi-circular in cross section, the inner face of said ring being substantially flat, loops associated With the inner face of said ring approximately two-thirds of the distance from the top thereof, and a medicine holding bag associated With said loops.
5. Amedicinal applicator, including an annular ring semi-circular in cross section, the
inner face ofsaid ring being substantially
