With the ordinarytype of discharge valve now in use on devices such as pumps,"dispensing apparatus or the like, it is possible- 10 to prematurely shut the discharge valve to retain a quantity of the fluid within the dispensing device, there being no way to check up to ascertain if thefull amount has been delivered unless said valve is opened again. It is therefore an object of this invention to provide a meanswhereby the amountof fluid in a container, or the connection between a container and the dispensing valve, may be readily ascertained.
Another object is to provide a fluid indi cating means cooperating with a discharge valve and so disposed that the indicating means is operative atall times.
Still another object is to providean inexpensive and readily accessible valve having indicating means associated with parts of the valve for determiningainounts' of fluid in a reservoir or connection betweenthe reservoir and valve.
i A further object is to provide a sightvalve particularly adaptable for fluid dispensing devices whereby fluid levels are readily discernible, means being provided whereby the levelsmay be determined by a plurality of means.
Still another object is 'to provide an'assembly including castings, preferablyfabricated, for readily and positively indicating fluid level at all times in a device. 7

A member 19ji's'provided with 'closing'means adapt"- ed to cooperate with the valve seats, said means comprising valve discs 19 and219 carriedby member 19 and adaptedto cooperate with the seats 1'7'18 and 1 7 18 The member 19 is pivoted at apoint removed from the valve discs, to an operating shaft 20 provided with the operating handle 21, which shaft is carried by and pivoted in a suitable gland or'stufling box 22 which maybe part of and adjacent the valve chamber 23 disposed above the valve seat and into which the member 19 travels in order to open communication through the channel 12. On the other side of the passage 12, sight indicating means such as chambers27 are provided, said means compr sing bottom and top spaced supports 28 andf29, said supports carrying'a-n open ended transparent cylinder of suitable material such as glass, said ma terial being protected by spaced bars 31 run; ning between and carried-by the top and bottom supports. Said cylinder is adapted to be removably secured in placeinthe supports by means of a threaded washer 32 threaded to the top 29 and 29*, there being provided suitable shoulders 32 in the bottom support for positioning the glass; The [top support is suitably threaded at 33 and is provided with a correspondingly threaded cap 34 similar to the cap 25 and providedwith the disc 35 overlapping the chamber 27. The chambers "27 are preferably connected by a passage or core 36, which core communicates through the port 37 directly with aportion of the valve passage connected to the pipe 514. Com municatingwith theindicating chambers and the valvechamber are suitable'cores or passages 38 preferably provided adj acentthe top of said chambers clear of caps or other memb V i j I 5 It will be readily understood that when the handle 21 is actuated (raised), the member-19 and consequently the valve? discs 19 and19 are raised from their respectiveseats, allowing communication with the pipe 14 through the passagef12, through the'swiveled nozzle 47to a suitable draw-ofl' hose, it being understood that due to port 37 andthe passage 36, fluid will rise and be shown in fthe'chambers 30. It then the valve 19 'isclosed before the pipe'l isfully exhausted, the-fluid will pass through port 37 through the core-36 and will rise in chambers 27 indicatingthe level and consequently the amount of fluidremaining in the pipe 14, it being noticed that due to the passages for cores 38 there willbeno vacuum or fluid pressureformedabove the fluid disposed in chambers 27, preventing register= ing or preventingflow of fluid 'from said chambers when the valve 19 is open. i
It will be readily appreciated that a valve of this general nature is rugged, inexpensive and positive of operation, yet should any part excessively wear orbebroken, new parts can be readily substituted by merely removing the parts disposed in way of said worn or broken parts.
I do not wish to be limited by theexact embodiment of theideviceshown as other'and various forms of this device will readily o'ccur to those skilled, in the art. {For instance,

In a device of the character described, the combination of a valve chamber having a seat therein cooperating with a valve, means for closing communicationthrough a passage through said valve chamber, and indicating means communicating with said passage '1 in front of-said valve chamber toindicate the fluid in said passage even when said seat is closed and said indicatingmeans communicating with saidevalve chamber. 5.}:

In a dispensing device, the combinatlon of a valve-controlled passage and indicating chamber therein, sight chambers for showing the amount of material in said passage, said chambers having communication with said discharge passage, with said valve chamber and with each other.
10. In dispensing apparatus, the combination of a discharge passage having a valve chamber therein, sight chambers for showing the amount of material in said passage, said chambers having communication with said discharge passage on the inlet side, with said valve chamber and with each other.
