Description

Feb. 18, 19,30. w. J. BRUECKMAN GOLF TEE'PACKET FiledJun 22, 192e gwuewtoz atten/w Patented Feb. 18, 1930 UNITED s'rATEs WILLIAM J. BRUECKMAN, OF DETROIT, NICHIGALN' GOLF-TEE PACKET Application led .Tune 22 This invention relates to golf tee packets, and particularly to packets suitable for mounting a plurality of golf tees for convenient access thereto.
' 5 VAn object of the invention is to provide a packet or mounting for golf tees which is of sufliciently inexpensive construction to permit of its free distribution for advertising purposes.
le Another object is to proportion a golf tee packet to fit the watch pocket of a garment, with a portion thereof projecting slightly from said pocket, and to adapt the heads of the tees to seat upon such projecting portion s0 as to allow a ready removal of the tees from the packet without taking the latter from the packet.
A further object is to give a golf tee holder a substantial wedge shape, such as will facilitate its insertion in a Watch pocket, and will at the same time provide two opposite faces of suitable area to carry advertisements.
A still further object is to provide a golf tee packet formed of a flexible sheet of material folded to the form of a casing within which are adapted to be inserted the shanks of a plurality of golf tees havingA their heads seating exteriorly upon said casing so as to provide for a ready removal of any of said se tees from the packet. Y
Still another object is to form a golf tee packet of a single sheet of material adapted to be folded to form a tubular casing and to utilize a plurality of golf tees mounted upon said casing to maintain the tubular form thereof.
These and various other objects the invention attains by the construction hereinafter described and illustra-ted in the accompany- 49 ing drawings, wherein: Y
Figure l is a perspective view of the herein disclosed packet rshowing a number of tees carried thereby.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal vertical sectional View of the same.
Figure 3 is an elevational view of the same showing said packet inserted in a trousers wat-ch,` pocket.
Figure 4 is a view of the blank from which 59 the packet is formed.
192s. serieu No. 287,378.
` designates a blank substantially rectangular' in shape and formed of cardboard or other suitable flexible sheet material.' Said blank is Adivided by a plurality of parallel scoring lines 2 into panels 3, 4, 5,6 and 7, t-he panels 4,
5 and 7 being of substantially equal area and the panels 3 and 6 being likewise substantially equal and considerably more narrow than j the panels 4, 5 and 7. The panels 3 and 7 60 are formed at opposite ends of the blank and the panel 6 is formed between the panels 5 and 7 the panels 4 and 5 being adjoined. rlhe panels 3 and 6 are each similarly vformed with a row of spaced circularscorings 8 which are65 of a diameter somewhat less than the maximum diameter of the tapered shank of an ordinary wooden golngvtee. n
l 'In forming said blank `into the desired,..; packet, the same is folded upon the scoringml0 lines 2 to give it the tubularform illustrated j in Figure l, in which form the panels 4 and 5 have a spaced, opposed, acutely divergent relation and the panels 3 and 6 are overlapped, the panel 7 lying within said tubular@z5 casing adjacent to the panel 4. When thus folded the scorings 8 of the panels 3 and 6 are in registration, and it is readily possible to insert through each registered pairof said L, scorings the tapered shank 10 ofa rgolf teel) having the usual cupped head 9 seating exteriorlj7 upon the panel 3. In thus mounting the I`golf tees in the cardboard packet, the shanks of the saidtees are caused to slightly x enlarge the openings determined bythe Scor-" ings 8 so as to it quite snugly in said openings when the heads of said tees are pushed down toseat upon the panel 3. Thus the tees are frictionally retained in their proper i assembly with the packet while readily re-JC movable therefrom.
Any desired advertisements (not shown) may be applied upon the panels 4 and 5 so as to be exposed at opposite sides of the packetla when said blank is folded. It is a feature of @5. the construction that a single operation suffices to print any desired subject matter upon the faces4 and 5 and at the same time to produce the folding score lines 2 and the circu.
lar scores This feature, together with the glio@ simple manner of forming the packet from the blank and of mounting the tees in the y packet, renders the production of the article quite inexpensive, this being in general an 5 essential characteristic ofgan advertising novelty intended for free distribution. Y
In the same connection, it is'highly important'to note that the tees When inserted in the packet form a means for securely maini 10 taining the proper tubularform of the packet, since the Shanks ofsaidrtee's pin together the overlapping panels 3 and 6. Y
` By forming the packet With a fiat top face to ,seat the heads ofjthetees and by convergn Y 15 ing the sides as they extend downwardly lfrom lsaid face it is made possible toA easily insert the packet in the Watchvpocket of a Y garment at the same time so exposing vthe y heads of the tees as to permit theirready re- Y* T210 .moval without disturbinglthe location ofthe packet-in said pocket.
Hille it `will be apparent that theillusu Y tltedembodiments of my invention herein disclosed are Wella-calculated to adequately 2.5 fulfill .the/*objects and advantages' primarily statedQit is to ,be understoodth'at 'the inven-V tion is'susceptible to variation, modification and change within fthe-spirit and scopeof the subjoned Claims l Y so wlanreiaim is:
