This invention relates to loose powder containers, and the primary objects thereof are to provide a container of this type wherein the container proper not only has a rouge or coin holder incorporated therewith and also a controlling rotary disk or valve, but which also is formed as a unit, thereby enabling same to be easily and quickly applied to the case.
A furtherobject of the invention is to pro- -vide a rotary valve structure or control which enables filling of the container and at the same time covering the rouge or coin holder compartment so as to protect same.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a novel latching means for the rotary control member, thereby to prevent accidental movement thereof from its various set or adjusted positions, and at the same time to permit the member to be easily and quickly moved into its various positions.
Further and other objects will be later set forth and manifested.

Figure 6 is an edge elevation of Figure 5. In proceeding in accordance with the present invention, a case is employed which consists of a body 1 having a hinged cover 2, the case being equipped wit-lithe usual latch device 8, and having the customary rim 4:. r
Referring to Figure 4, it will be seen that the container or insert is provided with a ring 5 that is spaced from the rim 4 of the case and is soldered at 6 to the under surface of the disk 7 that forms the top of the powder container. The powder container it will be noted is formed by and between the bottom of the body 1 of the case, the ring 5 and the disk or member 7, the ring 5 having close engagement with the bottom of the body of the case as clearly shown in Figure 4. The member 7 is flanged outwardly and upwardly as indicated at 8 to form a cup-like structure having a channel 9. The member 7 is formed with an integral cup-like compartment 10 which is struck outwardly therefrom and which forms a compartment to receive a cake of rouge and the usual pad 11, or to receive coins, such as dimes. The control member 12 is in the form of a fiat disk which has its marginal edge turned downwardly so as to closely fit in the channel 9 and provide a seal therewith so as to prevent leakage of the powder. The disk or control 12 is pivoted at its center at 14 to the member 7 and is held in its various positions by means of preferably three latches each of the latter being composed of complementary concavo- convex upstruck teats 15 and 16 formed on the members 7 and 12 respectively. It will be obvious from the drawings that the teats 15 and 16 are conformably received one within the other and since the members 7 and 12 are formed of spring material, the teats are frictionally engaged and -may be snapped into engagement with each other by mere rotary movement of the member 12. Referring to Figures 1 and 5 of the drawings, it will be seen that the member 7 is formed with a circular area of perforation 17 and with a circular cut-out 18 while the control member 12 is formed with cut-out 19 adapted to alternately or selectively register with either the perforations, the circular cutout 18 or the rouge or coin holder compart- By disposing the ring 5 spaced from the rim 4, it will be seen that the hinge and also the latch are afforded freedom of movement in their operations. The member 7 is cutaway on its periphery at 7 to receive the hinge 7".
As clearly depicted in Figure 3, of the drawings, when the control opening 19, registers with the filling or receiving opening 18, the control extends over and conceals the rouge compartment so that powder cannot contact with the same, while the control in either of the positions of Figure 1, or 2, conceals the filling opening 18, so that powder from the container cannot escape.
Having thus described our invention what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a loose powder container, a case having a rim, a member having an integral cuplike part depending therefrom and having a circular area of perforations and a circular opening, the marginal edge of said member being formed with a circular channel and a part extending upwardly from the channel and formed to frictionally engage the rim of the case, a ring secured to the under side of the member and depending therefrom and spaced from the rim of the case and being seated upon the bottom of the case, a rotary circular control member pivoted at its center to the first named member and formed with a circular opening to alternately or selectively register with either the circular area of perforations, with the circular opening or with the cup-like part of the first named member and when in registry with either thereof to conceal the remaining two, and a series of concavo-convex teats carried by the two members and formed to frictionally engage with each other so as to latch the control member against movement, the periphery of the control member being turned downwardly and engaged in the channel.
2. In a loose powder container, a case having a rim, a member having a depending ring secured thereto in the case, the ring seating upon the bottom of the case, said member having a dispensing portion and a receiving portion and having its marginal portion formed with a channel, a rotary control pivoted to the member and having its edge turned downwardly and fitted within the channel and means to latch the control against movement, the control being formed with an opening to selectively register with the dispensing portion or the receiving portion of said member.

In combination with a case having a rim, a member having a depending ring secured thereto at points spaced from the periphery of the member and formed to seat on the bottom of the case, a rotary control carried by the member and formed with an opening, the member being formed with dispensing means and an opening adapted for selective registry with the opening of the control, said member and ring and control constituting a unit formed to be inserted as such into the case, the member having its periphery free and formed to engage with the rim of the case and the ring being spaced from the rim, and a hinged top for the case having a latch, the hinge and latch being located in said space between the ring and rim.

In a loose powder container, a case hav ing a rim, a member having an integral cuplike part depending therefrom and having a circular area of perforations and a circular opening, a ring secured to the under side of the member and depending therefrom and spaced from the rim of the case and being seated upon the bottom of the case, a rotary circular control member pivoted at its center to the first named member and formed with a circular opening formed to alternately or selectively register with either the circular area of perforations, with the circular opening or with the cup-like part of the first named member and when in registry with either thereof to conceal the remaining two, and a series of concavo-convex teats carried by the two members and formed to frictionally engage with each other so as to latch the control member against movement.
5. In combination with a case having a powder compartment, a top for the compartment formed with a rouge holder, a dispensing area and a filling opening, and with a circular channel adjacent its periphery, and a movable control for the top mounted thereon and having an opening formed to register with the filling opening and which when in register therewith conceals and protects the dispensing area and the rouge holder, and which when in registry with either the rouge holder or the dispensing area conceals and covers the filling opening, said control having its marginal edge turned downwardly and engaged in said channel.

In combination with a case having a rim, a latch and a hinged cover, a member receivable in the case and engageable with the rim so as to be held in the case thereby, a ring carried by and depending from the member and formed to seat on the bottom of the case in spaced relation to the hinge and latch, said member having a filling opening and dispensing perforations, and control means carried by the member for the opening and perforations, the periphery of the member being free and extending beyond the ring and being engaged with the rim of the case.
7 In combination with a case having a rim, a member having an integral cup-like part depending therefrom and also having a ring secured to and depending therefrom at points spaced from the periphery of the member and being seated on the bottom of the case, said ring, the bottom of the case and the member forming a powder compartment therebetween, said cup-like part being closed against communication with said powder compartment, and said member having its pe riphery free and engaged with the rim and having a powder opening, and a rotary control element on said member having an opening for registry with said cup-like part or said opening of said member.
