IMPROVEMENT lN CORN-POPPERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 174, 150, dated February 29, 1876, application filed January'17, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, OHARLEsO. PEeK, of Pittsfield, State of Massachusetts, have invented certain Improvements in Corn-Poppers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the improved device. If the fire over which the cylinder is placed is fierce, the operator is to turn the crank d rap-idly, so that the cylinder will be rapidly revolved to carry the corn up from directly over the fire by the kernels engaging with the meshes of the cylinder. If the tire is low the crank is to be revolved slowly, when the corn will bepermitted to. be substantially over the fire, The kernels of popped corn, being lightest, will be worked upward, while the unp'opped kernels will drop below, tobe exposed to the heat of the tire.

The combination of the handle D, pulley E,
provided with crank d, pulley F, attached to shaft 0, and endless chain G, with the frame A A, supporting-legs O C, and popping-cylinder, carried by shaft 0, and made in its periphery with meshes or openings capable of admitting the heat of the fire direct into the chamber of the cylinder, and also engaging with the kernels of the corn, constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
