To assemble the parts thus described, the styptic pencil 22 is mounted with its end portion 29 between the fingers 28. The holder 27 is then threaded into the sleeve 32 after which the sleeve is threaded into the cap 26 and when the pencil is'not in use the cap 26k is detachably secured to the handle 24.

In Fig. 5 a still further modified forni of construction is shown and in this form of construction the handle 35 provides an annular fiange 36 within the compartment 37. Adjacent this open end portion and the threaded surface 38 of this flange is wedgeshaped for threaded engagement with the wedge element 39 formed as an integral part of the yieldable' fingers 40 of the holder 41 which holder in the present instance provides an integral' screw stud 42 threaded into the cap 43. In assembling these parts the pencil 22 is mounted with its end portion between the fingers 40. The holder is then threaded into the compartment and by reason of the wedge-shaped element 39 and tapered walls 38 the fingers will be yieldably pressed againstthis end portion of the pencil to removably hold,l the same in position in the holder.

rEhe pencil if desired may have this end portion, which fits between the yieldable fingers, covered with tinfoil 44 or the like.

It will be apparent from the description herein set forth that I provide a simple4 arrangement for detachably associating a styptic pencil or the like with a shaving brush handle.

In use, when the pencil has been worn beyond use the same may be removed and a new pencil substituted therefor.

While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification, without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of constructionl set forth, .but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:

l. In combination, a shaving brush including a handle having a hollow interior opening outwardly from one end portion of the handle, a cap closing the end portion of' said handle, a holder secured to said cap and having a plurality of yieldable fingers adapted for engagementwith an end portion of the styptic pencil, means for detachably connecting Said holder to said handle when said cap is connected to said handle, and means for connecting said cap to said handle.

2. In combination, a shaving brush including a handle having -a hollow1 interior opening outwardly from one end portion ofthe handle, a cap closing said open end portion of said handle, said cap havi-ng'an inwardly opening screw-threaded socket Vformed therein, an open end sleeve having a screwthreaded base mounted insaid'socket, said sleeve having a screw-threaded portion formed interiorly thereof, a member having a base portion mounted in saidV screwthreaded portion and including yieldable fingers extending inwardly along said-sleeve adapted to receive the styptic pencil, and means in said sleeve adaptedv to force said fingers into engagement with said pencil.
