A handle of the character described comprising an operating stem, an attaching plate removably carried by the valve stem and held against rotation thereon, a handle resting against the attaching plate and having interlocking means therewith, a heat insulating packing arranged between the handle and the attaching plate, and means passing through the handle and spaced therefrom and secured to the valve stem for clamping the same to the attaching plate.
