`My invention relates to horns or sound amplifiers designed to be used with radio sets, phonographs and the like and it is an object of the invention to provide a device of this character which will amplify the tone waves of the voice and musical instruments and will emit such tone waves in a manner so that they may be clearly and distinctly heard and with the Suppression of discordant sounds.

It is a further object of the invention to provide a horn which is of simple, inexpensive and compact construction and one which is attractive in appearance, all as will be hereinafter more particularly described and 1s claimed. y

lVithin the cabinet 10 is a vertically disposed transverse partition member '14 of a height equal to the depth of the cabinet and arranged at an angle with its front edge at the front corner of the cabinet and its rear edge in contact with the rear wall of the cabinet in slightly spaced relation from the central portion of the same. Anothervertically arranged partition member 15 is disposed substantially two-thirds of the dis'- tance from the front to the rear wall of the cabinet in substantially parallel relation thereto and joins another partition member 16 disposed in vertical relation transversely of the cabinet or in substantially parallel relation to the end walls of the same. A fourth partition 17 is mounted substantially 50 mid-way between the partition member 15 and the front .wall of the cabinet in vertical relation and extends from the front end of the partition 16 laterally to the end of the cabinet in substantially parallel relation to the front and rear walls of the same. The partition member 16, adjacent its lower end, is connected to the large end 18 of a speakin tube, an opening being provided in the partltion for receiving such enlarged end. The speaking tube tapers from its vlarge to its small end and extends from the partition 16 perpendicularly towards the end of the cabinet and is then provided with a forwardly extending portion 19 which extends through an aperture in the partition 17 from whence the horn is provided. with a substantially straight, longitudinally disposed portion 20 extending across the front of the cabinet, from which projects rearwardly a side portion 21vwhich extends through an opening in the partitionv 14 and has at its rear end a longitudinally extending rear portion 22 wlich carries a power speaker unit 23 at its en A horn or loud speaker of this construction possesses an amplifying chamber connected with a long tone chamber which is found very desirable, said tone chamber being constructed of a plastic, resonant, brous material and one in which the true, undistorted qualities of the tones are amplified prior to their emission from the device. The various sections of the horn which are wound around the interior of the cabinet do not interfere with the emission of sound from the sound box as the walls of the horn deflect the sound waves. The partition members 14, 17 and 16 through which the horn or speaking tube extends are provided with apertures of a size to snugly accommodate the said horn and serve to support the same in a rigid manner and to form a strong cabinet structure although the members are formed of relatively thin material.

It will be obvious to those skilled in the art that various changes may be made in my device without` departing from the spirit of the invention, and I, therefore, do not limit myself to what is shown in the drawings and described in the specification, but only as set forth in the appended claims.

Having thus fully described my said invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

l. A loud speaker comprising a cabinet open atione side, a plurality of upright partition members forming an amplifying chamber, and a sound receiving tube extending from one side of said amplifying chamber around the cabinet through said partition members, substantially as set forth.

2. A loud speaker comprising a cabinet open at one side, a plurality of partition members forming an amplifying chamber, a tapered sound receiving and conveying tube coiled Within said cabinet and having its large end terminating in one of said partitions adjacent the center of the amplifying chamber, substantially, as set forth.

31 A device of the class described comprising an amplifying chamber formed of a plurality of flat surfaces assembled to form a flared mouth, one of said fiat surfaces being provided With an opening adjacent the center of theL amplifying chamber, a tapered tube coiled around said amplifying chamber and having its large end disposed in said opening, theI larger and small ends of said tapered tube being disposed in overlapping relation, substantially as set forth.

A device of the class described comprising an amplifying chamber formed of a plurality of flat surfaces assembled to form a flared mouth, one of said flat surfaces being provided with an opening adjacent the center ofthe amplifying chambers, atapered tubev coiled around said amplifying chamber and having its large end disposed in said opening, the larger and small ends of said tapered tube being disposed in overlapping relation, said tube` having portions disposed `both in front of and behind its large end, substantially as set forth.

5. A sound amplifier comprising a substantial-ly rectangular cabinet, a partition member disposed at an angle transversely across one end of said cabinet, a longitudinally disposed partition member joining the rear portion of said rst'mentioned partition member, a central transverse partition member, a tapered sound tube having its large end disposed in said central partition and ext-ending therefrom in a direction opposite the rst mentioned partition then forwardly and across f the front of the cabinet then rearwardly tcthe rear of the cabinet and across the same tothe opposite end, substantially as set forth.
