The present invention relates to liquid dispensing devices for closed containers and has for its principal object to provide a support for the container having a plug adapted to 5 fit within the neck of the container whereby to seal the same and to provide an air vent extending through the plug and upwardly into the container for the purpose of admitting air into the same as the liquid is dis- 10 pensed therefrom.

A further object of the invention is to provide a filter for the air vent whereby to prevent the entrance of insects or dirt into the container through the air vent while the 1 liquid is being dispensed therefrom.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a discharge faucet attached to the plug and communicating with the interior of the receptacle whereby to enable the discharge of the liquid therefrom.

A still further object is to provide a device of this character of a simple and practical construction, whichprovides for the sanitary dispensing of a liquid from the container,

which is neat and attractive in appearance relatively inexpensive to manufacture and otherwise well adapted for the purpose for which the same is intended.

Referring to the drawings in detail, the invention comprises a stand composed of a plurality of legs 5 and adapted to support a receptacle in elevated position above the ground, the upper portion of the leg being provided with a cylindrical plug 6 adapted to fit within the neck of a receptacle ofa type as shown at 7 whereby to constitute a closure therefor. I

The plug 6 is formed with a centrally arranged vertically extending opening 8 within which a pipe section 9 is fitted, the outer end of the pipe being'provided with an elbow 10 providing means for attaching the discharge faucet 11 to the pipe and extending toward the side of the plug. 7

Ad'acent the edge of the plug is a sleeve 12 extending vertically through the plug with one end extending a considerable distance within the receptacle 7 and with its inner end closed and terminating in abutting relation with the bottom of the receptacle. 5

r Arranged within thewall of the sleeve 12, adjacent the inner end thereof is an opening 13 adapted to register with a similar opening 14 formed at the inner end of a hollow pipe 15 telescopically arranged within the sleeve and having its outer end extending at right angles therefrom and fitted with a hollow cap 16 having its outer end perforated as shown at 17. The interior of the cap 16 is adapted to carry a quantity of filtering material 18 loosely packed within the cap and adapted to prevent the package of fallen matter to the pipe 15. The cap 16 also serves as a handle for rotating the pipe 15 within the sleeve 12 so as to move the openings 13 and 14 into or out of registering position with respect toeach other whereby to open communication through the pipe 15 to the interior of the receptacle 7 In the operation of the device the receptacle 7 is arranged with its neck end uppermost and the plug 6 is then fitted therein to form a liquid tight seal for the neck of the receptacle and after turning the pipe 15 so as to move the openings 13 and 14 out of registering position the receptacle is then inverted and supported upon the legi5.

By reason of the r latively small opening formed by the pipe 9 and by preventing air from entering the receptacle through the pipe 15, the flow ot liquid through the faucet 11 will be retarded. However upon turning the pipe 15 so as to "bring the openings 13 and 14 into registering position air will be admitted into the upper portion of the receptacle and the liquid will then freely flow from the faucet- 11. By admitting the air through the filtering material 18 in the cap 16 the entrance of foreign lmatter, such as dirt or insects into the contents oi the receptacle is thus prevented as the liquid is discharged therefrom.

It is obvious that my invention is suscep- .tible to various changes and modifications in construction without departing from the spiritof the inventionor the scope ofthe appended claim, and I accordingly claim all such forms of the :device to which 1 221111 entitled.

Having thus described invention, what I claim as new is:

A device'ot the class described comprising a plurality of supporting legs having acylindrical plug formed at the upper portion thereoflsaid plug beingarranged for fitting in theneck of a receptacle to form a liquid tight seal therefor and said plug and said leg cooperating to support :the receptacle .in

inverted position, a discharge pipe extend ing vertically through said plug and communicating with the interior 01 the receptacle, :a vent pipe ext-ending vertically through the plug with its inner end formed with an opening and disposed adjacent the top of the receptacle when in inverted position, a tube disposed within the pipe and adapted for rotary v: novement,:said pipe and saidtubehavingregisterable openings at their ends remote from the plug, whereby to con-' trol atmospheric communication with the interior of'the receptacle and a lateral extension formed on the outer end of the tube providing a hand grip for manually operating saidtube.
