This invention relates totables, and par ticularly to tables for serving-meals in hotel rooms, the same being in the nature of an imrovement upon my co-pending' application erial No. 232,636, filed November 11, 1927.

At the present time, where a dinner or a large meal is to be served in a hotel room, it is necessa for the waiter to bring into. the room a ta s upon which the meal served and to employ an assistant tobrin'g in a service table, thus requiring numerous trips between the room and the pantry until all of the courses have been served. Due to the fact that in the larger hotels the pantry and 1 kitchen are often remote from the room in which the meal is being served, considerable time is consumed in accommodating the guest.

It is also obvious that certain foods are necessarily served hot, and hence, makeshift means 2 have been devised for maintaining the foods at the required temperature until served. f

In order to overcome the above objectionthe guest table w1th the comblned serving table and heating cabinet separated thereable features, the present invention comprehends an improved hotel room service;ta,ble which is constructed in such a mannefi as to permit of the complete transportationi and service of an entire meal by a singlewaiter at.

More specifically, the invention comprehands an improved hotel room service table which includes a shelf formed 'on the guest table for supporting a combined serving table and heatingcabinet during thetransportation of the same between the pantry and the guest room and in which a detachable top for the serving table is carried by and supported from the guest table top so that when the combined heating cabinet and serving table 0 is set up, the detachable top may be associated therewith.

The invention furthermore comprehenclsv an article of furniture for hotel room service including a guest. table formed with means for transporting suitable cabinets and receptacles containing foods to be served.

The invention furthermore comprehends a combined heating cabinet and serving table including a detachable top and a foldable supporting means for said detachable top carried by'the combined heating cabinet and serving table. i

The invention furthermore embodies a combmed heating cabinet and serving table adapted to be transported with and as a part of a guest table, which cabinetiis provided with electrical heating 'means adapted for connection with the house current for heating and maintaining the cabinet and its contents in a heated condition.

Other objects of the invention reside in the provision of a table outfit for serving meals in hotel rooms which embodies the features of simplicity, economy and efiiciency.

With the above recited and other objects in view, reference is had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which there is exhibited one example or embodimcnt of the invention, while the claims define the actual scope of the same.

Referring to the drawings by characters of reference, 10 designates generally the main table having a to 11, supporting legs 12 and a shelf 13 whic is carried b3 and preferably disposed near the lower en s of the legs. The legs are preferably provided at the lower ends with rollers or castors 14 to facilitate the rolling of the table over the floor or the supporting surface. The table 10 is designed for the purpose of a bearing table upon which the meal will be served.

A combined serving table and heating cabinet 15 for the reception of hot foods constitutes a part of the outfit and is adapted to be arranged on the shelf 13 of the table 10 for transportationwith the table to the hotel room where the meal is to be served. The cabinet is provided on its bottom wall with a air of rollers16 and a pair of feet 17 so that y slightl elevating the end of the cabinet so that the eet 17 are out of contact with the supporting surface the combined serving table and cabinet may be readily removed from the shelf 13 and moved over the floor or other supporting surface, whereas when the feet are brought into contact with the shelf,

- floor or the supporting surface the table and cabinet 15 is maintained against shifting movement. The cabinet is provided on its front wall with a doorway or opening by which access may be gained to the interior and the same is closed by doors or other closures 18 which are preferably hinged thereto.

'Within the cabinet 15 is arranged an electric resistance heating device 19 and, if desired, a shelf or shelves 20. Suitably connected with the heatin element is an extension cord 21 having a p ug 22 which is adapted to be engaged with a baseboard outlet '23 connected with the house current. If desired, a suitable switch 24 may be employed for cutting ofl or regulating the heat to the heating device 19, the same being preferably mounted on the front wall of the cabinet or table 15. In order to provide a serving surface for the waiter which is of the proper height and spaced above the top wall 25 of the cabinet or table 15, a detachable top 26 is employed I which is adapted to rest upon upstanding suporting leaves 27 which are hinged at 28 adacent the opposite side edges of the upper wall 25 and which leaves during the transportation of the cabinet are adapted to be swung down to a parallel position with the top wall 25, as clearly illustrated in Figure 5. The upper ends of the leaves 27 are adapted to fit between the transverse and longitudinal cleats or strips 29 and 30 which are formed on the under side of the top member 26. In order to hold the leaves 27 in their vertical upstanding supporting position the top member 26 hashinged at 31 to the under side thereof a leaf member 32 which is swingable to a depending position for disposition between the leaves 27, as clearly illustrated in J finger engagin of the main table 10. In order to facilitate the withdrawal of the top 26 from its supported position under the table top 11 a slot 36 is provided. .The upper wall 25 of the cabinet or table 15 is provided with a centrally disposed handle 37.

In order to provide clearance for the handle when the leaves 27 are swung downwardly the said leaves are provided with medial cut-out portions 38. In addition to transportin the combined serving table and heating ca inet 15 for hot foods, the shelf 13 .of the table 10 is designed to also carry a box or cabinet 39 which will be suitably refrigerated for cold foods or iced dishes, and furthermore, a tray 40 containing salads, pastries or other articles of food which neither require a heating or cooling agency may be supported upon the 1 detachable table top member thereabove, said means consisting of leaves hinged to the opposite side edges of the upper wall of the cabinet, transverse and longitudinal cleats formed on the under side of the table top member for receiving the upper edges of the leaves and a leaf carried by the under side of the table top member movable to a position between the leaves of the cabinet.

2. As an article of furniture for serving hot meals in hotel rooms, hospital wards or the like, a cabinet adapted to be interiorly heated, a detachable table top member and interengageable means-provided respectively on the upper wall of the cabinet and on the under side of the table top member for supporting said tabletop member in superposed relation to the cabinet, wherebya heat insulated serving'service is provided, said interengageable means of connection consisting of leaves hinged to the opposite side edges of the upper wall of the cabinet for swinging movement from a position parallel to the upper wall of the cabinet to a vertical upstanding position, transverse longitudinal cleats formed on the under side of the table top member for abutment with the upper edges of the leaves and a leaf carried by the under side of the table top member movable from a parallel position with respect to said table top member to a depending position between the leaves of the cabinet for retaining said cabinet leaves against the cleats.
