TAXIMETER VEHICLE Application filed March 21, 1928.; Serial No. 263,316.
This invention relates to attachments for Referring to the drawing in detail 10 detaximeter vehicles. The fare register or notes attaximeter vehicle of usual-construcclock is generally controlled through a hand tion employing for example a high tension lever called the flag in such manner that magneto llto produce ignition. 12denotes when the latter is raised or in a position inthe usual flag controlled fare register or clock, 65

There is a switch (not the fare, but when the flag is lowered, the shown) adaptedto becontrolled fromthe flag clock will be in operation while the vehicle handlelQ. 17, 18and 19 denote the switches is driven. controlled by pressure, as by the weight of the t0 Unscrupulous drivers instead of charging occupant of, the passenger, compartment. by the register omit moving the flag but make The switch 17 a is arranged under the main special rates to the passengers, so that the fare seat, 18 at the 'back' of the auxili aryseat and received is a loss to the owner of the vehicle. 19 under the floor of said compartment. 7
To obviate such abuses my present inven- 2O denotes the intake manifold for. the 59 tion has for its object to provide means fuel. The [same is provided at; a suitable whereby the driving of the vehicle with any point with a butterfly or throttle valve 21 appreciable speed, when occupied by a paswhichtextends transversely and is pivoted or senger without setting the fare register into otherwise rotativelysupported at its CiI'CllIfl? 2o registering position will be rendered imposference as 21?. The valve is adapted to be .70 sible. verylightand swing freely on its pivot, so
To accomplish my object I make use of an thatit will beeasily and readilyvopenedunelectric switch controlled by the flow of any cler. the influence of the gas or air flowing fluid in the motor system, as for instance the through said manifold when the accelerator 25 flow of the fuel, gas or air through the intake is operated. 1 t J a manifold. The hingedorpivotal endof said auxiliary In the present embodiment, I make use of throttle valve maybe. formed with anextena butterfly or throttle valve in the manision, to serve as an electric contact, piece fold that is controlled by the flow of the fuel which forms part of theauxiliary, switch to 3o therethrough, which valve is equipped with be controlled by the flow of the fuel. The 80 l a switch inserted in a circuit leading on one other contact piece of said switch is formed l I hand through the magneto or other ignition by a block 23finsulated from theformer and I system of the motor and on the other hand cqnductively connected tothe magneto 11. Thus the ve icle can proceed only in l a e .9
In order to avoid stalling of the motor,
while the vehicle is standing still, the butterfly valve 21 may have a narrow opening 21 to permit some fuel to pass to the motor.
The auxiliary switch may of course be controlled by the flow of any other liquid or fluid therein in the motor system. The construction too may be modified in various ways without departing from the spirit of my invention. I, therefore, do not wish to limit myself to the details described and shown.
What I claim is:
1. In a taximeter vehicle, passenger controlled means, means controlled from the fare register, a fluid feed for the motor of said vehicle and a valve mounted in said feed and controlled by the flow of said fluid and so connected to said other two means, that when said vehicle is occupied while the fare register is not set, said valve will affect the operation of the motor.
2. In a taximeter' vehicle a passenger controlled electric switch,'a switch controlled by the fare register, a throttle valve in the intake manifold controlled by the flow of the fuel through the latter, and a switch operated by said throttle valve and in circuit with said othertwo switches and with the motor controlling means, so that when said circuit is closed by the said third switch the operation of the motor will be'aifected.
'3. In a taximeter vehicle, 7 a passenger controlled switch, a switch controlled by the fare register, a throttle valve in the intake manifold controlled by the flow of the fuel throughthe latter and a switch operated by said throttle valve and in circuit with said other two switches and with the motor ignition circuit so that when said circuit is closed by sa1d third switch and sald fare reglster swltchis 1n vacant position the operation tor, said valve being provided with an opening whereby said motor may idle with a passenger in said vehicle and while said register remains in vacant position.
6. In a device as per claim 3, in which said valve is provided with an opening whereby said motor may idle with a passenger in said vehicle and while said register remains in vacant position.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.

of said motor will be affected as soon as fuel begins to flow in large quantities through said intake'manifold. 4:. In a taximetervehicle, a passenger controlled means, means controlled from the fare register, a fluid feed for the motor of said vehicle, a valve in said feed and controlled by flow of said fluid and soconnected to said other two means that when said vehicle is 00- cupied and said fare register remains in vacant position, said valve will afl'ect the operation of said motor, and means on said valve wherebysaid motor may idle wlth a passenger in said vehicleandwhile said register remains in Vacant position.
5. In a taximet'er vehicle, a passenger controlled means, means controlled from the fare register, a valve in said feed and controlled by the flow of fluid in said feed and so connected with said other two means that when said vehicle is occupied bya passenger and said fare register remains in vacant position, said valve Wlll affect the operation of said mo-
