UNDERCLEARER FOR THE ROLLERS OF YARN PREPARING: SPINNING, AND LIKE FRAMES.

The invention relates to under-clearers for multiple roller systems, such as draft rollers employed in ribbon lap machines, draw frames, slubbing frames, spinning mules and the like yarn preparing frames, and has for object the provision of a clearer device of an effective character below the bottom rollers of the roller system involved.
The invention involves the use of a flat clearer presenting a plane or a number of plane areas to the rollers above the same, and which member may be covered with a soft material such as flannel as is understood. By contact with the peripheries of the rollers re- 1 ferred to it operates to clean or clear the same in manner wellknown. It has imparted to it a reciprocatory motion, combined with an oscillatory motion.
According to my invention, a clearer roller is provided in spring connection only with said flat clearer, which springs form bearings for the axle of said clearer roller. The clearer roller being moved by said flat clearer and connected by springs thereto, thus rolls round a peripheral part of the roller it is in contact with, and so effectually operates thereon.
The flat clearer is held up against the rollers it is to clean by means of spring pressure.
With reference to the accompanying drawings, giving an example of the application of the invention to the roller system for a spinning mule, Fig. 1 is'a plan view of a portion of Fig. 2, and the latter is a side sectional view of a roller stand and rollers thereon, suitable for use in said spinning mule, and provided with means according to my invention. a is a portion of the roller stand named, provided with top rollers Z2, and bottom fluted rollers .0. d is what is here referred to as the flat under-clearer, and shown with inclinations at the upper face, said face being assumed suitably covered with soft material such as flannel, and for making contact with the rollers 0 above.
In the present example, said fiat underclearer is supported or held up against the rollers immediately above by means of springs such as e, upon which it rides. It will be seen that by the resilient connection named the clearer-roller 7 keeps in contact with the roller to be cleared imme diately above it, or'with material thereon, while it is moved in a reciprocatory manner by the fiat under-clearer (Z. In this way, the clearer roller 1' tends to roll round, the roller it is in contactwith, during said motion.
According to which edge of the clearer d the roller 1' is resiliently connected, so does the clearing operation vary, in effect, as is well known in the industry.
The invention would not be altered even if the roller 1- formed one of several of the same along the length of the edge of clearer d mounted as stated, instead of being only one to said clearer as illustrated.
