SHADRACH N. CUDWORTH AND GEORGER. STETSON, OF NEW BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNORS TO THE MORSE TWIST DRILL AND MACHINE COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN SCREW-CUTTING DIES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 172,712, dated January 25, 1876; application led January 3, 1876.
To aLl whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, SEADRAGE N. CUD- woRTE and GEORGE R. STE'rsoN, ot'N ew Bedford, Bristol county, Massachusetts, have invented a new and Improved Adjustable Die for Screw-Plates, ot' which the following is a snecification:
The die consists ot' two parts, held together by means of a guide, which has holes for screws formed in it, which are elongated to admit of adjustment ot' the dies to which the guide is connected.
The invention also consists of two adjusting-screws fitted in the body of one part ot' die to secure the die positively after being;` adjusted, vas above described.
The invention also consists of the improved adjusting die and guide connected with a screwplate.
Figure l is a plan view of the improved die. with a partin section, and Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts. .sv V
A and B represent the two parts of the die; C, the guide; D, the slotted holes in the guide; E, the screws for connecting the guide to the die; and F, the screws in one part of the die for securing the die rmly when adjusted to the required position by shifting,- the two parts of the die along the guide.
This die and guide are tted in a screwplate, Gr, for workingl them in the manner of working ordinary dies. f
Having thus described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentl. The combination of the guide C, having slotted screw-holes D, with the die A B and the screws E, substantially as specified.
2. The combination of the fastening-screws F, die A B, set-screws E, and the guide C, having` the slotted holes D, substantially as specified.
3. The combination of adjustable die A B, guide C, set-screw E, and the fastening-screw F with the screw-plate G, 'substantially as specified.
