It is a further object of the invention to provide a package of roll paper which will display a label to the best advantage.
It is a further object ot the invention to provide al package of roll paper which will be entirely enclosed by wrapping and therefore will reach the user in a condition of cleanliness.

It is a still further object of the invention to provide a method of producing a package provided by the invention.
Further objects of the invention will appear from the following description when read in connection with the accompanying drawings showing an illustrative embodiment of the invention and wherein Figures 1 and 2 are perspective views showing subsequent steps in the production of the package; and
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the finished package.
As shown in Fig. 1, the invention is applied to a roll 10 of toilet paper which it is desired to wrap in cubical form and to retain in this form until placed in the hands of the ultimate user. According to the method provided by the invention the roll 10 is shown as placed in a form comprising a plurality of plungers 11, 12, 13, 111, each adapted to be forced against the roll through the medium of rods 15, 16, 17, 18 by suitable mechanism not shown.
Before placing the roll 1() in the form, strips of wrapping paper 19, 2O are placed in the forni in superposed relation in the bottom of the form, the ends 21, 22 and 23, 24 projecting above the plungers, after which the roll 10 is inserted in the form and the plungers are forced toward the roll to the position shown in F ig. 2. The wrapping may then be pulled taut and the ends 23, 211- niay be brought over 1927. Serial No. 183,693.
the top of the roll and pasted, as sli-own in Fig. 2, after which the ends 21, 22 may be brought over the ends 23, 24C in the position shown in Fig. 3, and pasted.
The cubical package will then be held in its form by the wrappings after the removal of the pressure of the plungers and may be packed for shipment without further treatment if desired. However it is preferred to apply an additional wrapping 25 placed in the remaining direction about the package as shown in Fig. 3 with the overlapping ends pasted as at 26.
.The wrapping 25 may bear the label as indicated in Fig. 3. It will be understood however that the label may be printed upon the strip 19 if desired.
The use of the wrapping 25 has the advantage of covering the roll at the corners Where the wr ppings 19, 20 abut, which corners might otherwise be exposed to soiling during handling ot' the package. The package illustrated in Fig. 3 will obviously provide a pleasing' appearance upon the retailers shell and when Wrapped for the purchaser will not objectionably advertise the nature of the contents, also, as already stated, packages of paper will occupy a minimum ot' space in a carton.
Minor changes in the form of wrapping or in the steps of the method for the production of the package may be made within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit of the invention.
I claim:
1. A package of roll paper comprising in combination, a roll of paper substantially cubical in conguration, wrappings passing about said cube in a plurality of directions and retaining the roll in its cubical form.
2. A substantially cubical package of roll paper comprising in combination a roll of paper having substantially cubical configurat-ion, wrappings passed in each of two directions about said cube and overlapping upon the ends of said roll, the ends ot said wrappings being secured whereby to retain the cubical form of the roll.
3. A substantially cubical package of roll paper comprising in combination a roll of paper having substantially cubical configuration, wrappings passed in each of two directions about said cube and overlapping upon the ends of said roll, the ends of said wrappings being secured whereby to retain the combination, a roll of peper in the forni of cubical form of roll and a third Wrapping a paraileiopipedon, Wrappings passing about superposed upon the first named Wrappings said roll in a plurality of directions and i'e- 10 and passing about the roll in substantiel partaining said roll in said form.
