My invention relates to devices for rapidly and eitectively folding down and crimping the projecting edges of paper tubes in use for holding a definite number of coins in roller packages.
It is usual for a definite number of coins all of the same denomination to be'deposited in previously prepared tubes designed to hold a (jletermined number of coins. The coins are counted in coin counting machines and deposited in open tubes and in order to hold the coins in the tube, it is necessary to roll or fold down the upper edge of the tube on the coins. This is a matter which requires some time to accomplish and when the edges are folded over by hand, there is no assurance that the tube may not accidentally open up and some of the coins may drop out leaving a defective package.
It is a matter of considerable importance in the saving of time in the larger banks where large numbers of coins must be counted, that the top edges of the tubes be quickly and etfectively folded down over the coins and my invention has for its object to provide an exceedingly effective machine for accomplishing this result with great rapidity.
The invention consists of that certain novel construction and arrangement of parts whereby the above result is accomplished.

The crimper is driven by a small electric motor 1 on the armature shaft 2 of which the crimper 3 is mounted. The motor is mounted upon an angle bracket which is designed to be quickly attached to or detached from any desired table top 5 The depending plate 4 of this bracket is slotted to receive a slide comprising a pair of plates 5, 6, one in front and the other behind the plate 4, the two plates sliding on ways 7, 7 At the lower end of the plate 4 secured by screws 8, 8, is a bar 9, in which is mounted a thumb screw 10 which bears against the bottom of the slide and by whichv the slide can be quickly raised to fit the bracket to any thickness of table top. If the motor were secured directly to the metal bracket the vibration of the motor would make so much noise that the machine could not be used ina bankand therefore to avoid this ob-s jection, I interpose between the bracket and fiber 15. This fiber plate is secured by screws 16 to the bracket plate and the fiber piece bent back at 17 and the upper portion 18 secured by screws 19 to the fiber piece. of the vibration being taken up by the fiber plate.
Instead of a fiber plate, rubber or stiff and heavy cloth can also be used and it is to be'understood in the claims that follow that fiber plate is used in a broad sense to designate any equivalent means.
The armature shaft 2 of the motor 1 has secured to it a disk 21 upon which is detachably secured a crimping device 3, which comprises a cylindrical block formed with a beveled recess 22 with a central cylinder 23 leaving an annular groove 24 and a pin 25 is driven through the cylinder across this groove.
To use the device the operator fills the coin wrapper or tube 26 with the required number of coins, turns on the current in the motor and inserts the tube in the rotating cylinder. The outer edge of the tube 27 is instantly rolled down and crimpled over the coins as shown at 28 in Figure 5, upon coming in contact with the pin 25 in the groove. The inner edge of the cylinder is beveled to guide the end of the tube against the pin.
For various sizes of coin tubes crimpers of the proper size are furnished and in order to permit the attachment quickly of the crimper of the proper size, each crimper is provided with two holes 29, 30, in the base of the crimper and the disk 21 carries two studs 31 and 32. A spring latch 33 ending in a curved portion is also carried by the disk, the curved end when the crimper is fitted to the disk on the studs, snapping into the opening 34 in the the motor standard, a heavy plate of flexible I crimper to lock the crimper in position, while permitting its quick detachment and substitution of another crimper of difi erent size.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is:
1. In a device of the character specified, the combination with an electric motor and means for securing same to a table, of a reaming device and means for detachably securing same on the armature shaft comprising a disk on the shaft with projecting studs, with corresponding holes in the reaming device to receive the studs and a spring latch on the disk to engage and lock the reamer thereto.
2. In a device of the character specified, the combination with an electric motor and a rotatable member actuated thereby, of a crimping device provided with means for detachably mounting said crimping device on said rotatable member, said crimping device adapted to be mounted axially with said rotatable member, and said means for detachably mounting said crimping device disposed off center of said axial mounting.
8. In a device of the character specified,
the combination with an electric motor and a rotatable member actuated thereby, of a crimping device provided with means for detachably mounting said crimping device on said rotatable member, said crimping device adapted to be mounted axially with said rotatable member, and said means for detachably mounting said crimping device disposed oif center of said axial mounting and comprising a spring catch.
4. In a device of the character specified, the combination with an electric motor and a member connected with and rotated thereby, said member comprising a disc having projecting studs, a crimping device having apertures to receive said studs, and means for detachably securing said device to one of said studs.
