l old in the art to provide a vibrating board in combination with a dancing figure arranged upon the end of a stick or handle, the feet of the figure usually being permitted to lightly rest upon the end of the vibrating board so that when the board is vibrated the figure will dance.
In carrying out the present invention there is provided a gure unit consisting of a handle member upon the forward end of which ismounte'd a pair of figures, means being provided whereby the figures may be manually moved toward or away from each other during the dancing of the figures to simulate a team lof two dancers, which will I have found by experiment prove much greater amusement than the usual single figure fixed to the end of the stick or handle.
In the drawings wherein like reference 4 indicate corresponding Y parts characters throughout the several views Figure 1 is a perspective figure toy, the figure unit of which is constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a sideelevation of the unit, the figures being moved toward each other so that only one is visible.
v Figure 3 is a top plan view of my unit. l
Figure 4 is a vertical section through one of the pivot joints between the handle or stick member and the gures taken substantially upon the line 4--4 of Figure 3, and
Figure 5 is a plan view of one of the figure attached members of the device.
Now having particular reference' to the drawings, my novel figure unit consists of a figure supporting and attached stick or handle member 5, preferabl 1 constructed of two intertwisted lengths of steel wire, the forward ends thereof being separated and `bent to provide a yoke 6, while upon the opposite end thereof is a suitable wooden handle 7.
The end of each arm of'said yoke 6 is bent to provide a ring 8, p upon. and secured thereto by soldering, weldfigure of a dancing 'ends of the arms of ywhlch are pivotally while arranged thereing, or the like is a metallic disc 9. Riveted through the center of which is the inner end of an upwardly extending pivot vpin l0. Loosely arranged upon the upper end of this pivot pin and spaced from the disc 9 by bearings 11 is asimilar disc 12. rlhe invention further consists of a pair of figure hangers 13-13 preferably constructed of a short length of twisted steel` wire, which is untwisted intermediate its ends to form a ring 14 for engagement upon and fixture to the complemental rotatably mounted disc 12 as 65 clearly illustrated in Figures 4; and 5. The inner end of each figure hanger member is formed with a yoke 15 within which is securely fixed a suitable dancing gure 16. The invention further consists of means 'm 4 whereby the ligure carrying members 13 may be moved inwardly and outwardly upon their pivots, said means consisting ofa rod 17 arranged above the stem of the stick or handle member 5 and slidably guided at its 75 innery end'through guide members 18 carried by the handle element 7, this rod being equipped between the guide members with a thumb piece 19. The outer end of the rod is provided with a- V-shaped yoke 20, the 8e connected to the outer ends of said figure carrying members 13, seev Figure 3.
Obviously, therefore, the forward or reverse movement of the thumb piece 19 will 85 cause similar movement of the rod 17 thus moving the figures inwardly or outwardly .during the dancing of the figures so as to simulate as previously stated, a dancing team. l v l Having thus described the invention, what l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is In a fi ure unit for dancing figure toys, an elongate handle constructed to provide a 95 yoke at one end thereof, a pair of horizontal members pivoted to the ends of the arms of yoke, jointed figures arranged upon the inner ends of said members and. means associated with the outer ends of said members and 1,00 operable by the hand of the user whereby to cause the pivoting of said members and the consequent movement of said jointed figures. j v
In testimony whereof I a my signature..
