My invention relates to mountings for oilburners and. more particularly has reference to ignition mountings for oil burners wherein the oil and air mi'xturedischar-ged from the burner nozzle is ignited by means of an electric are which is produced between two electrodes positioned adjacent the discharge nozzle of the burner.
It is an object of my invention to provide amounting for the burner nozzle and electrodes of an electrically ignited oil burner wherein the electrode points are firmlysfixed relative to the nozzle when the device is once assembled and wherein the mechanical and thermal arrangement is such that the possibility of any change in the relative positions of the electrode'points and nozzle is reduced toa minimum.
It is a further object of my invention to provide a mounting of the character indicated wherein the parts of the assembly are suitably protected from the heat of the furnace so that they will not become impaired.
According to my invention the oil and air pipe, nozzle, electrodes, and the means for fastening the electrodes and pipe are built into one complete unitwhich is adapted for insertion into the fire door of the boiler or furnace-to which the device is to be applied. The complete unitrepresents a compact structure for holding the electrodes in fixed position relative to the nozzle irrespective of thermal conditions within the furnace, the complete device being simple in construction and readily assembled.
Briefly stated my invention comprises a casing, preferably cylindrical and made of seamless steel, in which there is provided a clamp firmly held to the oil pipe and casing so that there can be no'relative movement between the pipe and easing nor between the clam and the oil pi e. To the un erside of the clamp is fastene an insulating lock designed to firmly hold between itself and a second insulating block insulating tubes for the rece tion of electrodes. The clam and the insu ating blocks are preferably shielded from the heat of the burner by aplate of suitable heat insulating material-positioned within the steel casing between the supporting structure and the source of heat.
For a more detailedunderstanding of the invention reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein there is shown apreferred embodiment of my invention but it is to be understood that the invention is by no means limited to the specific structure illustrated.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, the numeral 10 indicates a cylindrical casing or tube preferably constructed of seamless steel and closed by end plates 11 and 12, the end plate 11 having an opening 13 for the oil and air pipe hereinafter referred to and the end plate 12 having openings 14 and 15 for the oil and air pipe and electrodes respectively. The end plate 11 is held firmly to the casing 10 by means of flanges 16 and bolts 17 and the plate 12 by means of the counter sunk flat head screws 17 on the nozzle end of the casing. The casing 10 is provided with a circular opening 18 for the lead-in wires of the electrical connections and to permit access to the electric terminals.
\Vithin the casing 10 there is'provided a clamp, preferably of cast iron, comprising the upper element 19, and the lower element 20, the top of the element 19 being arched as shown to conform in shape with the interior of casing 10. Semi-circular openings 19 and 20" are cut in the adjacent faces of the elements 19 and 20 respectivelyfor reception of the pipe 2.1 to which is supplied an oil-air 22 are formed in alignment through the clamping elements 19 and 20, the openings in the latter being threaded, for reception of the screw'threaded bolts' 23 which pass mixture from any suitable source. By this arrangement it will be seen that the oil and air pipe 21 is clamped firmly to the casing 10 so that there canbe no relative movement between the casing and the pipe. p
Asshown, the portion 20of the clamp is provided with laterally extending flanges 25, these flanges having openings therethrough for reception of screws 26. By means of these screws there is held firmly to the element 20 a block 27 of suitable insulating material,
the block 27 being provided with flanges 28 and openings therethrough for the screws 26.
The block 27 is providedwith vertical openings as shown at.29 (Figs. 2, 4 and 5) extend- 3 ing partially therethrough, holes being bored from the openings 29 through the block. Beneath the block 27 is asecond block 32, also of suitable insulating material, this block 32 having openings 29 in its under face corre sponding to and in alignment with the open-- ings 29 in the block 27. Holes 30' arebored from the openings 29 through the block 32, these holes being in alignment with the holes 30 in the block 27. Screws 31 fit'into the openings 29' and through the holes 30 and 30 and by means of nuts 31 in the openings 29 firmly hold the blocks 27 and 32in fixed position. Semi-circular grooves 33 are cut into the adjacent faces of the blocks 27 and 32 for receiving insulating members 34.
By the construction just described it will be seen that the insulating members 34 are held firmly and rigidly between'the blocks 2'? and 32, these blocks being in turn secured firmly to the element 20 of the oil pipe clamping device by the screws 26 and the oil pipe and clamp being held in fixed relation with re- Y spect to the casing 10 by means oftheupper element 19 of the clamp, bolts 23 and block 24.

the preferred form of the invention pins 40 are positioned in holes through the electrodes,
these pins fitting snugly into grooves 40 in the endsof the tubes 34 when'the nuts 39 are tightened. The pins 40 are located at such .a point in the electrodes that when the former are snugly into grooves 40 in the ends of the tubes 34 the electrode points 36 are in their proper positions with respect to the burner nozzle. The position of the-electrodes with respect to the burner nozzle 37 may be adjusted by loosening nuts 31 and screws 31,
thereby releasing the clamping action of block 32, and changing the position of insulating tubes 34 and electrodes 35 relative to the blocks 27 and 32 and then re tightening the nuts and screws.
In order to protect the clamping elements 19 and 20 and the insulating blocks 27 and 32 from the heat of the burner there is provided within the casing 10 a plate 41 of anyopenings 45 for the oil and air pipe 21 and the tubes 34 respectively.
From the foregoing it will be seen that I have devised a compact and simple mounting for an oil burner pipe and electrodes wherein the electrode points are rigidly held in fixed position with respect to the burner nozzle and wherein there can be little or no change in the relative position of the casing, electrode points, and nozzle. The complete unit permits'of ready'assemblage and may be easily taken apart when necessary, all parts within the outer casing being protected from the heat of the furnace.
While I have shown and described in detail a particular form of my invention, it will be understood that this is for the purpose of illustration only and that various changes and modifications may be made therein Without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
Having described. my invention what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. An ignition mounting for oil burners comprising a casing, an oil pipe mounted in said casing and terminating in a burner nozzle exterior of the casing, electrodes mounted in said casing and extendingbeyond the same adjacent said nozzle, complementary oil pipe supporting means, and complementary electrode supporting means, one part of said oil pipe supporting means secured to one part of said electrode supporting means and the other part of the oil pipe supporting means rigidly secured to said' casing.-
2. An ignition mounting for oil burners comprising a casing, an oil pipe-mounted in said casing and terminating. in a burner nozzleexterior ,ofthe casing, electrodes mounted in said casin and terminating exterior of the casing'ad acent said nozzle, and

7 An ignition mounting for oil burners comprising a casing, an oil pipe extending through said casing and terminating in a nozzle exterior of the casing, clamping means in said casing engaging said oil pipe and fixed to the casing, ablock fastened to said clamping means, a second block attached to said first mentioned block, insulating tubes between-said blocks, electrodes in said tubes and terminating exterior of the casing adjacent said nozzle, pins in said electrodes, and grooves in said tubes for receiving said pins.
8. An ignition mounting for oil burners comprising a casing, an oil pipe extending through said casing and terminating in a nozzle exterior of the casing, clamping means within said casing engaging the oil pipe and fixed to said casing, electrode supporting means within said casing and fixed to said clamping means, electrodes mounted in said supporting means and terminating exterior of the'casing adjacent said nozzle, and an insulating plate within the casing for protecting said clamping means and supporting means from the heat of the burner.
9. An ignition mounting for oil burners comprising a casing, a two-part complementary. burner support, a two-part complementary electrode sup-port, means for assembling the supports adjacent each other and in operative relation to each other, means for attaching the assemblage inside the casing, an oil pipe mounted in said casing and carried by the oil burner support and electrodes mounted in said casing and carried by the electrode supports.
10. An ignition mounting for oil burners comprising an oil pipe support having two separable parts, an electrode support com- I prising two separable parts, an oil pipe carried by the oil pipe support, electrodes carried by the electrode support and means for assembling two supports adjacent each other and in operative relation to each other.
