The invention relates to new and useful improvements in needle actuating mechanisms for sewing machines, and more particularly to the means for supporting the lneedle lever which imparts reciprocations to the needle bar carrying the needle or needles.
An object of the invention is to provide a needle lever supporting means wherein the needle lever is provided with a fulcrum support at both sides of the needle lever, and wherein the Isupporting stud for the needle lever is provided with tapered bearings capable of endwise adjustment in the supporting bushings therefor for taking up wear..
A further object of the invention 1s to provide a needle lever supportingr means of the above type, wherein the yneedle lever 1s capable of lateral adjustment on the supporting shaft or stud therefor, so that the needle lever may be lined up relative to the' needle bar which is reciprocated thereby.

The invention has to do with a needle lever which imparts reciprocation to the needle bar. The invention is directed to the means for vsupporting the needle lever and also to the means for shifting the needle lever on its support for lining up the needle lever relative to the needle bar. The needle level' is rigidly attached-to a sha-ft or stud which is provided withapered bearing sections, one at each side of the needle lever. The needle lever is mounted within the frame or housing of the sewing machine, and these tapered bearings are journaled in bushings carried by the frame. Meansis provided whereby the stud or sha-ft supporting the needle lever is capable of en dwise adjustment relative to the frame for taking up the wear on the bearings.
