IMPROVEMENT IN GAS-BURNERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 171,831, dated January 4, 1876; application filed November 16, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OWEN .T. McGANN, of the city of Chicago, county of Cook and State of lllinois, have invented a new Portable Wator-Bowl Gas-Burner; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
Figure l is a side elevation of the gooseneck burner; Fig, 2, a plan of the flanged ring for holding the water-bowl, and Fig. 3 a perspective view of the device complete.
My, invention-has for its object to provide an improved mode of attaching the ring'holder of a water-lens or reflector to its burner, which latter is also provided with a socket adapted to be detachably applied to the burner of an ordinary gas-bracket.
The ring for supporting the water bowl or lens has a horizontal lug or flange, A, which is provided with a screw-threaded hole, B, to adapt it to receive the corresponding threaded end of the socket D of the goose-neck burner O. Said socket has a perforated rubber diaphragm, (like the socket of the flexible tube of an ordinary drop-light,) which adapts it to tit gas-tight upon the burner of the bracket E. The socket is screwed into hole B till arrested by its shoulder a; hence the circular lens-holder B and burner-tube O constitute, practically, one device, which may be readily attached to, or with equal facility detached from, the bracket-burner, while they may also be separated or detached one from the other;
