`My inventioncrelates to` an apparatus for treating. footailments and more particularly fto a foot sprayingv receptacle ,in which the patientsfeet are placedrabove and in frontV of a plurality of spray pipesjconstructed to .projectthe spray solely upon the `parts l'of theiifeet. being treated.
. One of theobjects of` the vinvention is to provide a foot spraying apparatus which can Vbe usedvfor the treatment of abnormal-conditions of the nervesand musclesofthe feet and to assist in the treatment for readjustment ofthe bones, ligaments and' tendons ofthe feet in cases of weakened longitudinal arches, flattened transverse arches, shortened Achilles tendons and allcases of pain `and l strain of the feet and ankles.
With the above and other objects in view, my invention consists in the parts, improve-k ments and combinations .hereinafter de-` scribed. y
Referring to the drawings which illustrate Y' ,one embodiment of the invention:
Figure 1 is a top plan view of theifoot spraying receptacle.
Figure 2, is avertical transverse section on line 2 2 of Figure 1, l p Figure 3, is a vertical transverse section'on line 3 3 of Figui-e2, the plane of 'section being at right angles to thatof Figure 3, and
Figure 4, is atop plan view of the cover,
showing the `foot openings and cuis for th 1 of the receptacle and preferably embeddedinv the porcelain bottom wall. The spray holes Vinthese pipes are arranged to vproject the entire foot with water. Pipe 4, spraysl thev heel of the foot and pipes 2 and 3, spray por.- K,
` vranged underv the toes and pipe 3, under the spray only upon the parts of the soles of the feet beingtreated, and vso as' not to flood the tions of the sole of the foot, pipe 2, beingari beginning of the arch of the foot;4
' rIlwo longitudinal cross spray pipes 5, 6, one `for each foot, extendy between the two sole i spray pipes and run' lengthwise of the feet thus spraying the foot arches. VA Jfoot spray is thus provided for the soleo each foot, including a separate toe spray, whichsprays the ball` of the foot adjacent V`to ythetoes, a `sepaiate heel spray,.and a separate arch spray, thetoe. c spray pipe being transverse to thearch spray 4 pipe. .By this means different portions ot' the feet can lbe .simultaneously sprayed. A1 curved spray pipe 7, extends around the baclr of the receptacle and is provided 'with spray openings at the portions `8 and 9,'so as to spray. 'thefbacks ot the ankles-ofthe two f eetjwhen pain or` strain in the Achilles tenV 'y treating dons;
f AHot andcold water may be su pliedto the. .Y
sprayl pipes by ainixing pipe not,r shown) trom which the water-passes into supply; pipe 10. From 'the supply pipe Water passes into`l sprayl Vpipes 2, .3, 4 and 7, then branch pipesl 11,12, 13 and 14, located in the walls of the receptacle, each of'which isfrespectivelyv con'- trollediby a valve 15, 16, 17, 18. The spray:
stimulates the separate yparts of the feetk 'f through impact of the jets ofwater. The
person using the sprayl sits so that the feetl hang in the receptacle without resting on anyy surface, the. receptacle beingl open to the atmosphere. V.The lfeet are placed about four inches away from the spray openings,l thus making the stimulation from the beat of the y Y y jets of water, pleasant and beneicial.
Al cover 19, isV provided for the receptacle with foot holes 20, 21, .thruV which lthe feet of the person using the spray canbe inserted. v l
VVater- tight cuits 22, 23, are' provided which .the legs lit and which prevent escape ofwater outside the receptacle.
Having thus described the invention, it will be understood 'that `changes may be made in the form, constructiony and' arrangement of thev spray pipes and receptaclewithout de partingvfrom theprinciple ofthe invention. ,WhatIclaimis: y
