The present invention relates to a fuse box and has for its prime object to provide a structrire for use with household electric appliances which are a' t to cause the blowing out of the fuse in the house when too great a load is placed thereon. I have in mind such appliances cleaners, electric washing machines and the like which are now commonly in use in a great number of households.
further important object of the invention resides in the provision of a fuse box of this nature which may be conveniently engaged in the wall outlets now commonly provided in residences and the like.
simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, easy to assemble and disassemble and to renew the fuses therein, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.

The block is further provided with; a centrally located opening 19 extending through the rib 18 and merging at its outer end in a recess 20. The block 15 is further provided with openings 21 one to each side of the opening 19 and recess 20. A block 23 extends through'an opening 24 in the end Wall 7 and is'limited in its projection therethrough by a shoulder 25. This block 24 is formed with a vertically disposed inwardly extending rib 26 which has a central opening 27 therein also extending through the center of the block 23. The block 23 is provided with openings 28 one to each side of the opening 27. r
A plurality of contact members T and T are mounted on the plate 14 by means of screws 30. Each contact member comprises a U-shaped portion 31 the legs of which -are curved to form clip jaws for holding the end of a fuse cartridge 32. These U-shaped portions 31 are formed integrally on the ends of horizontal portion 33 which merges into a riser 34 terminating in prongs 35. The prongs of the contact T are bifurcated as indicated at 36 at their ends. The screws extend through openings in the bight of the U-shaped portion 31 while the prongs 35 project through the openings 21 and 28. The bifurcated ends 36 of the contact are housed within the openings 21 while the prongs of the contact T extend outwardly beyond the block 33. A rod or bolt 37 ex tends through the opening19 having a head recess 20 and a shoulder intermediate its ends as at 39 thus limitmg the movement of the rod or bolt 37 through said opening 19. This rod 37 also extends through the opening 27 and terminates in a threaded end 40 to the outside of the block 23. adapted to receive thg )ron s 35 of the contact T and is anchore m uf casing by means of a nut 42 embedded in the plug 41 and threadedly engaged with the end 40.
It will be obvious that the cartridge fuses 32 span the contacts T and are detachably held in place by the clip jaws of the U-shaped portions 31.
To assemble the device the block 15 isfirst inserted in the opening 16 with the block 23 on the rod 37 but pushed adjacent the shoulder 39. \Vhen the block 15 is in place it will be seen that the block 23 may he slid along the bolt and inserted in the openingQt. Obviously the contact T may then be assembled and the risers 34 will abut the inner surfaces of the blocks 15 and 23 to prevent them moving inwardly. The plug 41 should be engaged by nut 42 on the end 40 of the rod 37 before contacts T are put in place. When the plug 41 is screwed in the socket of the base board it will be seen that the flange 12 will abut the base board when the cover 9 is attempted to be opened thus preventing children tampering with the device when in use.
It is thought that the construction, operation and advantages of the invention will be quite apparent without .a more detailed description of the construction. The plug of the electric appliance, such as a vacuum cleaner may-be engaged in the block 15 by the prongs engaging the bifurcated terminals 36 of contacts T. Should too much of a loa be placed on vacuum cleaner this would tend to blow out the fuses in this fuse box first thus preventing the blowing out of the fuse in the usual fuse box provided in the house or building. The presentembodiment of the invention has been disclosed in detail merely as an exemplification of the invention as it has proved practical. It is to be understood, of course, that changes in struction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.

A fusebox of the class described comprising a casing, contacts: in the casing having clip portions ,for receiving cartridge hingedly mounted fuses, and electrical connection means on the ends of the casing for said contacts, a cover on the casing and having a flange projecting from the hinged end thereof outwardly for engaging. a wash board or from c the details of con' other block.

A fuse box of the class described comprising a casing, contacts in the casing, means insulating the contacts from the casing,'said contacts having clip portions to receive the ends of cartridge fuses, said contacts having prongs projecting therefrom, insulating blocks in the casing for receiving the prongs. said blocks extending through openings in thecasing and having shoulders to limit their outward projections, said contacts having portions abutting the inner ends of the block to prevent their inward movement, a rod exd' tending through the block, a plug receiving prongs at one of the blocks and having a nut therein with which the rod is threadedly engaged.

A fuse box of the class described comprising a casing, contacts in the casing, means insulating the contacts from the casing, said contacts having clip portions to receive the ends of'cartridge fuses, said contacts having prongs projecting therefrom, insulating blocks in the casing for receiving the prongs, said blocks extending through openings in the casing and having shoulders to limit their outward rojections, said contacts having portions a utting the inner ends of the block to prevent their inward movement, a 'rod extending through the block, a plug receiving prongs-at one therein with which the rod is threadedly engaged, said rod having a head on the other end thereof and a shoulder intermediate its ends-to limit its movement in respect tothe whereof I aflix my signature.
