This invention appertains to tobacco nsers appliances and more particularly to a novel cigarette and match case of a waterproof character adapted for wear with bathing suits.

One of the primary objects of the present invention is to provide a combined cigarette and match case having novel means for releasably connect-ing the cover of the case with the body thereof to form a waterproof connection therewith, so as to prevent the seeping of water and moisture into the case between the cover and body of the ease, said means permitting the quick releasing of the cover when desired.

Another important object of the invention is the provision of novel means for det-achably connecting the combined cigaretteyand match case with a belt, whereby the case can be conveniently worn by swimmers andthe like.

A further object of the invent-ionl is the provision of a resilient U-shaped yoke for straddling the case carrying a loop 'for receiving the belt, with novel means for detachably connecting the resilient 'ol-shaped yoke with the body of the case, whereby the case can be removed from the belt of the wearer independently of said yoke. Y

A still further object ofthe invention is to provide a waterproof cigarette and, match case foi'swimmers which will be durableand efficient in use, one that will be simple and easy to manufacture, and one which can be placed upon the market at a reasonable cost.

'll/ith these and other objects'in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and formation of parts, as will be hereinafter more specifically described, claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which di'awings:

Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the 'several views, the letter A generally indicates thel im* v proved rwhich comprises a body 5 and a removable Cover 6. vThe top wall 12 of the cover 6 is provided with a loop or strap 14 which hingedly carries an inwardly extending U-shaped bail 15 which straddles the body of the'case. Theextreme inner ends of the arms of the bail 15 can be provided lwithpivot lugs which are rockably mounted in ears 16 formed von the lower edges of the arms 17 of the operating yoke 18. These ears 16 are f termediate their ends and the inner ends are connected with the wallsS and 9 of the case by means-of pivot pins 19.. filler 25 is placed within the bent portion ofV the strip and prevents the collapsing thereof and this filler can be used for holding small articles such as rings and the like if so desired. However the strip with the body forms means for receiving matches, While the main portion of the body at one side of the strip forms a compartment for receiving cigarettes. The filler 25 forms means for supporting the matches so that the same can be easily grasped While the bent ends 24 of the strip hold the matches in place against accidental movement. Y

A match scratcher 26 of any character. is placed on the inside of the cover 12 and suitable rivets 27 extend through the match scratcher, the Wall 12 and the loop 14 for holding the loop 14 and the match scratcher 26 in an assembled position on the cover 6.

In order to permit the association of the case A detachably With a belt B I provide a resilient U-shaped yoke 30, which is preferably formed from a strip of sheet metal. This resilient yoke 30 includes resilient legs 31 and 32, and a connecting body portion 33 to Which is riveted a loop 34. Y he loop 3st receives the belt B as clearly shown in Figure 2 of the draw-ings.

In order to detachably connect the supporting yoke 30 With the case I provide studs 35 and 36 connected With the opposite sides of the body 5. The stud 35 is left smooth, while the stud 36 has its outer end reduced in diameter and externally threaded as at 37. The leg 31 of the yokel is provided with an outturned end 38 and an opening` 39 for receiving the stud 35, While the leg 32 is bent atV right angles as at 40. The outer end of the leg 32 and the right angular' portion 40 is slotted as at 41 for receiving the reduced threaded end 37 of the stud 36 and a thumb nut 42 is provided for fitting upon the threaded end of the stud 36 and this nut is adapted to be threaded into binding contact with the leg 32 for holding the yoke against displacement.

lVhen it is desired to remove the cigarette case from the belt Without displacing the yoke 32 it is merely necessary to remove the thumb nut e2 and pull out on the yoke 30 which will release the leg 32 from the stud, after which the leg 31 can be removed from the stud From the foregoing description, it can be seen that I have provided a simple and compact cigarette and match case Which is Waterproof in its natu-re and which can be conveniently and readily associated with a belt of a bathing suit.

That I claim as new is:

1. A combined cigarette case and match box comprising a body, a cover adapted to frictionally engage the open end of the body, a loop carried by the cover,`a U-shaped bail liingedly carried bythe loop and adapted to straddle the body, a cam yoke hingedly con-- nected to the body at one side ofthe longitudinal axis thereof, and means hingedly connecting the rear yends of the arms of the bail tov the arms of the cam. yoke 4intermediate the ends thereof. y

A Waterproof cigarette and match case comprising a body having an open end, a cover for said open end adapted tosnugly fit on the body, a loop'carried by the cover, a U-shaped bail rockably carried by the loop at the transverse center of the cover and adapted-to straddle the body of the case, a U- shaped cam yoke including side arms and a connecting bridge portion, meansl hingedly connecting the inner ends of the arms to the body at oneside of the longitudinal axis there@ of, studsV formed on the arms of the cam yoke intern'iediatethe ends thereof, meanshingedly connecting the inner ends ofA the arms of the bail to the lugs, the bridge piece forming a .stop for limiting the swinging movement of Louis D.
