Description

W. GOSSHORN. MODE 0F BALANCING MILLS TONES. No. 171,373. Patented Dec. 21,1875.
WITNESSES UNITED STATES WILLIAM GOSSHORN, OF WATERLOO, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN BALANCING MILLSTONES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 171,373, dated December 21, 1875; application filed April 24, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM GOSSHORN, of Waterloo, in the county of Juniata and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Mode of Balancing Burr Millstones, of which the following is a specification: 7
The invention will first be fully described in connection with drawing, and then pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure l is a top or plan view, showing the back. Fig. 2 is a top view having the back removed and interior exposed. Fig. 3 is a cross-section of Fig 1 taken on the line a: w.
' Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A represents the back. B is the eye. 0 represents the bail, which is adjusted centrally in the eye by means of the screws D. E represent the screws (four, more or less) which adjust the balancing-sections. G are sections of the band or ring, which are attached to the adjusting-screws E. These sections are made of lead, or similar heavy metal, and the adjustment is made from the outside. By turning either of the screws E the section attached thereto will be raised or lowered, as may be required, and, by moving the weights when they or any of them are above or belowthe cockeye. The weights G rise and fall in cavities I in the stone, and the screws pass through the weights, as shown.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Pateu t 1. The adjustable bail 0, having cockeye or point of suspension, and arranged within tube B, all within the eye of stone, as and for the purpose described.
2. The baud-sections Gr made vertically adjustable from the outside, and arranged in the stones eye about the tube B, as and for the purpose specified.
WILLIAM GOSSH'ORN. Witnesses:
