This invention relates to switch devices and particularly to devices of this class for use in connection with alarm circuits for protecting doors of residences, banks. bank vaults, as well as for controlling any member governing the admission to a room or compartment of any kind or class, as well as to a switch device which may operate to control a member, device or mechanism or apparatus of any kind or class, such for example as the devices or mechanisms controlling the operation of a motor vehicle; and the object of the invention is to provide a switch device which is adapted to be mounted in conneetionwith the door or other member to be controlled and provided externally of said door with a dial. by means of which the proper setting of the switch is facilitated; a further object being to provide a contact disk constituting part of a notched disk adjustably supported in connection with the door to permit of its setting into (li fl erent positions and a spring contact arm movably disposed over the surface of the contact disk to control the alarm circuit, said contact disk having a non-coir ducting surface at a predetermined point thereon with which said spring contact is u d apted to register; a further obj ect being to provide a device of the class specified which by virtue of the structure einplhyed will take up comparatively little room on thedoor or other member in connection with whieh'the same mounted, and which will be simple and positive in operation; and with these and other objects in View, the invention consists in a device of the class and'tor the purpose specified, which is simple in construction efiicient in use, and which. is constructed as hereinafter described and claimed.

The shaft 27 contacts with the contact 1 1 as seen at 37 so as to place the shaft 27 in circuit with the wire 16. Secured to the shaft 27 inwardly of the wheel 31 is a spring contact finger 38 having an aperture 39 to fit upon the flat sides 27 of the shaft 27 to key the finger 38 therewith, and the free end of said fingeris bent into hook fashion as seen at 1O and is adapted to tensionallyengagethe disk 35 and move freely thereover as wellas over the non-conducting surface 34 of the disk 35.

, VVith my improved construction, it will be understood that the fingers of the contact disk 35 are] held in firm engagement with the contact disk 18 and the spring contact finger 38 tensionally engages the disk 35 at all times. In the use of the device, thc knob 28 is'rotated to bring the finger 38 into alinement with the non-conducting surface 34; by breaking the circuit through the wires 16 and 18-to permit of the opening of thedoor without sounding The operator is guided in this operation by the movement of the finger 29 into registering position with one of the indicatingmarks of the dial 30. Whenever desired. the wheel 31 may be ad'- justed tomovefthe non-conducting surface 34;

This result 1S accomplished by removmg the cap 13, grasplng the finger 38 in one hand and rotating the wheel 31 by the other hand. The notches 32 serve to accurately place the nonconducting surface 34 with reference to the markings of the dial. In this operation, the nut 41 may be loosened if desired, but this is not absolutely neces sary.
It will also be understood that while I have shown certain details of construction for carrying my invention into'eifect, that I am not necessarily limited to these details, and various changes in and modifications of the construction herein shown and described may be made within the scope of the appended claims, without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing its advantages. It will be apparent that while I have illustrated and described my invention as applied to a door, that the same may be used in con nection with and adapted to control devices, mechanisms or apparatus of any kind or class, forexample, a switch device may be employed to control, by virtue of its electric circuit, in. the operation of control, devices or mechanisms of a motor vehicle to prevent the theft of such vehicles, and many other uses which will present themselves to those skilled in the art. 1 l

A switch device of -the class described comprising a manually actuated member, means for indicating the several positions of said, member, an electric spring contact finger actuated by said member and movable over a contact surface supported in the path of movement of said contact, an insulated. surface'interposed in the path of said contact to break the circuit thereto, a notch adjustment wheel supporting said contact surface and a stationary contact disk, andmeansfor placing the contact surface of said wheel in direct contact with said stationary contact disk.
