A further object of my invention is to provide a device of the type described, which is extremely simple in construction, durable and efficient for the purpose intended.
Other objects and advantages will appear in the following specificatiom'and the novel features of the invention will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application, in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation of the socket,

In carrying out my invention 1 provide a socket 1' which is secured to an insulating base 2 in the ordinary manner. The socket 1 is provided with a .slot 3, and with a triangular-shaped slot 4, these slots being disposed diametrically opposite each other. The base 2 carries four binding posts 5, and these posts carry spring terminals 6 of the shape shown in Figures 5, 6, and 7. t

The laterally bent portion 9 is triangular in shape (see Figure 7), and not only prevents the bending of the body portion 6, but permits the flexing of the resilient hook-shaped end 10. The end 10 is adapted to be moved from the dotted line position into the full line position shown in F igure 5, when the bulb is disposed in place. Each of the four terminals 6 is identical with the other terminals, and therefore the de scription of one terminal is suficient. The
terminals are held in place by screws 11, which form a part of the binding posts 5. The grooves 7 and 8 prevent relative movement of the body portion 6 with respect to the base 2.
T will now describe the novel means for locking the audion tube 12 in the socket 1. There is sufiicient space between the base 13 of the tube 12 and the inner wall of the socket 1, to dispose a strip of metal of the shape shown in Figure 4, therebetween. The fastening member 14 does not have to be made of metal, but I have found that metal works to better advantage than other materials; A
slot 15 is provided in the strip 14, and is adapted to removably receive a pin 16 carried by the base 13. The strip 14 also has a projection 17 which is adapted to enter the slot 3. The projection 17 has a groove 18 in its under side large enough to receive the wall of the socket 1.

In securing the bulb 12 in the socket 1, the
strip 14 is first placed upon the base 13 in amanner to cause the pin 16 to be received in" the slot 15. The strip 14 nowencircles a portion of the base 13and lies snugly against the exterior surface of the base. The base 13 together with the strip 14 is now inserted into the socket 1 in a manner to position the pin 16 directly above the slot 4 and the projection 17 above the slot 3. It should be noted,'however, that the projection 17 is not disposed directly above the slot 3, and itgis necessary to rotate thebase 13 a slight distance with respect to the socket 1 before the projection 17 a will be aligned with the slot 3. This movement causes the pin 16 to be moved into the position shown in Figure 3, whereupon the pin will prevent accidental movement of the t,
base 13 fromthe socket 1. When the pin 16 is in the position shown, the projection 17 may be moved downwardly into the slot 3 and it will assume the position shown in Figure When the bulb 12 is first disposed in the socket 1 and prior to its movement into its final position, the terminals 19 carried by the base 13 will enter the flexible hook-shaped end 10 of the spring terminals 6. When the pin 16 is moved into its locked position, the terminals 19 will flex thehook-shaped end 10 and thus provide a good electrical connection between the terminals 19 and the hook-shaped end 10. The strip 14: fills up the space between the base 13 and the socketl and therefore prevents Wobbling of the socket with respect to the bulb or vice versa. This strip also positively locks the bulb in place and prevents the bulb from working loose. r
' The projection 17, when in locked position is prevented from rotative movement by the walls of the slot 3. This prevents rotative movement of theprojection 16, and since the latter is held in the apex of the triangular" recess 4, the inclined edge of the recess prevents movement of the pin 16 out of the socket.
When it is desired to remove the bulb, it is merely necessary to manually move the projection 17 free of the socket. The recess has an inclined edge having the same slant as the inclined edge of the recess 4. This permits the more ready removal of the projection 17 from the slot 3.
I claim 1. The combination with an audion bulb, and a socket therefor, of a fastening member adapted to encircle a portion of the'base of said bulb, a pin'carried by said base, said fastening member having a slot. therein adapted to removably receive said pin, said socket having a triangular-shaped slot in the wall thereof, adapted to removably receive said pin, a projection carried by said fastening member, said socket having a second slot therein, adapted to removably receive said projection, said projection when recelved in said second named slot, locking said tube in said socket.
2. A tube-clamp to secure a tube into a socket, said clamp comprising an arcuate locking member to be disposed between said tube and said socket, said locking member having a longitudinal slot therein and a projection on the outer side of said locking member.
3. In combination, a tube having a radially slot being cut on an incline, an arcuate locking member being disposed between said tube and said socket, said locking member having a slot therein to slidably receive said pin, and a projection on said locking member slidable on the incline of said second slot tooperatively engage said second slot and to simultaneously lock the pin in said bayonet slot.
5. In combination, a tube having a pin thereon, a socket having a bayonet slot and a second slot thereon, terminals protruding from said tube into said socket, contacts radially protruding from the inside of said socket in operative relation to-said terminals, an arcuate locking member being disposed between said tube and said socket, said locking member having a slot therein to slidably receive said pins, and a projection on said locking memberso disposed as to operatively engage said second slot and to simultaneously locksaid pin in the bayonet slot and press the terminals against said contacts.
