Amon the rinci )al obiects which the present IIlVQIltlOII has in View are: to provide a composition which makes a steamtight joint between threaded members; to.
5 avoid rusting or corroding of the threaded members; andto provides compound of the character mentioned which will not freeze or otherwise adhere to the threaded members.
The compound referred to consists of 15 portions by volume oi (domestic) flour of any ordinary household variety; one por tion by volume of sal-ammoniac; and one portion by measure of pulverized iron. 15 These materials are thoroughly mixed and packed as a powder in suitably sealed containers.
Just prior to using, the powder is mixed in cold water to the consistency of a paste. The paste is then spread on the externally threaded member of a screw-joint, and the two threaded members are then screwed one upon the other, in the same manner as when using articles such as White or red lead.
