FIR-E GRAIE WITH MOVABLE HOLLOW FIRE BARS.
Application filed February This invention relates to a firegrate with movable hollow fire-bar's wherein each hollow fire-bar is provided with small openings in its bottom surface allowing air to enter into a combustion chamber under the fir grate. Each hollow fire-bar is further providedwith a trunnion enteringinto an opening of the common cast iron lever which makes it possible to move said trunnion in a circular sidewise movement. Fire-bars thus made are set in iron boxes at their ends so that the bottom plate of the box is at the same time a foundation for the fire-bar's. These boxes are fastened in the brick work and have at their back side apertures which are connected either with the outward air or with the air canals ofthe stove.
This invention has for its object to provide a fire-grate which is designed mainly for stoves with reversed draught in order to get hot air under the fire-grate for the pur pose of reburning the gases which have not. been burnt completely in the heatmg device.
A further object of the invention relates to a most convenient typeof the fire-grate for cleaning away the ashes and dross.
One embodiment of this invention is illustrated by way of examplein the accompanying drawings in which 1 Fig. 1 is a sectional elevation of the iregrate along the line 11 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 2 is a horizontal section of the lirehar on the line 22 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the fire-grate.
Fig. 4 is a lateral section of the fire-grate along the line 47- 1 of'Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is Fig. 3.
Fig. 6 is a front View of the fire-grate from the left hand side of Fig. 3.
Fig. 7 is a cross section of the fire-grate. along the line 77 of Fig. 3.
As shown in the figures, the fire-grate consists of hollow fire-bars 1 which have small openings 2 at the bottom surfaces and are placed into two cast iron boxes 4 and 4.
For this object the bottom surface of the box is casted with half cylindrical grooves into which each cylindrical end 3 of the firebar is resting. Everyfire-bar has an angle shaped point 5 at the end and the ends of these points enter into the opening 7 ofthe common cast 1ron plate 6. The plate 15 ro tated partially to and fro according to the reciprocal motion of said plate by means of the same along the line 55 of 4, 1925. Serial. No. 6,845.
the projecting handle 8 outside of the stove. In order to avoid fuel falling into the boxes'e and i and to make same air-tight, cast iron walls 9 and 9 are fitted slid-ably to inner sides of said boxes from the side of the heating device.
The cast iron platcfi passes through the brick work along pipes 10 and 10( of rectanbottom, 0 enin s 2 is directednnder the P 1 9 fire-grate in the heated condition effecting the complete combustion of unburned gases which are caused by reversed draught.
2. In a grate, a series of parallel hollow fire bars having both ends open and a series of perforations in the bottom of each bar, the ends of said bars resting in cast-iron boxes having semi-cylindrical grooves on the bottoms thereof to receive the ends of said fire bars, each fire bar having an angular member on the end thereof, said'memhere terminating in a cast-iron plate fitted in one of saidboxes and a handle on said plate on the outside of saidbox to permit the simultaneous reciprocationof-all of said bars.
8. In a grate, a series of parallel fire bars having both ends open and a series of perforations in the bottom of each bar, the ends of said bars resting in cast-iron boxes having semi-cylindrical grooves on hollow the bottoms thereof to receive the ends of said bars, said ends opening lnto said cast- 11'011 boxes, one end of each fire bar belng fitted with a pointed upright member rest ing in a cast-iron plate fitted in one of said boxes and a handle on said plate so that all of said bars may be simultaneously re- ALEXKNDER.IALEXANDRO'VITCH GOLOVTCHIKOFF.
