CHEST.
ApplicationledvMay 25, 1927. Serial No. 194,088.
rIhe main object of this invention. is to provide a chest comprising 1trays or sections supported thereby, making the entire storage space of the receptacle conveniently available and accessible. y
.Objects relating to details and economies of construction will appearfrom the detailed description to follow. The invention is defined in the claims.
A structure which is a `preferredembodi ment of my invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a chest, having corner vposts and legs, embodying the features of my invention, a portion' of the side wall being broken away to show details of construction.
Fig. 2 is an lenlarged detail perspective view of the upper portion of said chest, with the lid raised and the left hand tray fullyeXtended-and the right hand tray lin mid position, the parallel link` supports being indicated by dotted lines.
Fig. 3 is a detailcross sectional elevation view taken on plane of line .3-3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a` diagrammatic detail of a modiied form of the chest.
The parts of the drawings will` be identi. fied by their numerals of reference which are the same in all the views.V
1 is themain body of the chest. 2 are the corner posts thereof extended downwardly into legs 3. 4 is the lid hinged in any suitable way 'and provided withv the usual stop connection and support 5, centrally located to occupy a space between tlleinner 'ends of the trays.' 6 are the ends of the chest body which extend about halfway to thetop of thechest, leaving an open space at each end which isl occupied'byrthe trays 7. The end 8 of each tray 7 forms the upper part of the end of the chest when the sa/ie is in closed position, Each tray is carried by two pairs of parallel links 9, 9, pivoted at 91, 91 inside and toward the bottom of the mainA body of the chest and at the upperv end at 92, 92 to the sides of the tray 7 toward 'the inner part thereof. The .outer ends 81 top are guiding ribs 11 disposed at a point above the swinging path of the outer ends of the parallel links 9.which serve to guidev theatrays 7 to place and prevent mai-ring of their sides.
From -this description will be seen thatv on raising the lid 4 of the chest the trays 7 can be moved outwardly at each end, exposin the contents of the bottom of the main ody of the chest andsupporting the trays at each side in accessible position, thus making the whole cdntents of the chestvery conveniently accessible. y
The chest can be given a fancy form, as seen in Fig. 4 where the ends, in place of being Aperpen icular, are oblique, with a. corresponding form of the tray. The chest is available for simple box construction. I have shown it in elaborate construction with corner posts-and legs', to which it is especially well adapted.
I lesire to claim the invention broadly andfalso in thel specific form illustrated, as indicated in thef appended claims.
laving thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. Avchest structurewith suitable corner' posts, the main body of which is provided with end walls at the lower portion Athereof only, trays tting within the space above the ends of said `chest, parallel links for supporting'the same pivoted to the inside Aof the main body and to the sides of the said tray,
,a guidingrib at the lower outer pdrtion of each tray and. a guide rib 'within the main body toward the top at each side,- and a hinged lid forclosing the same; as specified. 2. A chest structure,` themain body of `which is provided withfend walls at the lower portion thereof only,l trays fitting within thes'pace above the ends of saidchest, parallel links for supporting the same pv oted toithe inside of ythemain body and-to the `sides of the said tray, ai guiding rib at the lower outer portion of each tray and a guide rib within 'the main body toward the top .at each side, anda hinged lid for closing of the tray extend laterally into projecting/"the same,' as]speciiied.
5 for closing the same, as specied. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set 4. A chest structure, the mainbody of 'my hand,`
:which is provided with end. Walls at the lower portion thereof only, trays fitting CARL C. KUSTERER.
