This invention is designed to facilitate the formation of window screens so that they may be readily assembled with suitable mesh andpresent an attractive finish with sufiicient strength for the purpose. The invention incidentally involves the formation of the channel structure from which the frames are made.

In the construction shown in Fig. 1, 1 marks the base strip or channel. This has the outer flange 2 and inner flange 3. The edges 4 and 5 0 these flanges are turned inwardly and downwardly. p
A cover strip 6 has an outer flange 7 and an inner'flange 8 and these have the outturned edges 9 and 10 which engage the inturned edges 4 and 5, the structure being such that the edge of the outer flange of the cover plate may be hooked into the internal edge 7 of the outer flange and the inner ed e 10 snapped by the inturned edge 5 of the ange 3, the method of assembling beingclearly shown in Fig. 2. I
When this section is used for forming screens this is particularly desirable in that the edge 12 of the screen is placed between the edges as shown in Fig. 2 and the assembling or forcing downwardly of the flange 8 and edge 10 past the edge 5 tends to stretch these corners by soldering or a similar method. With this brace strip inserted the stifi-- of a piece of metal blank as shown in Fig. 9,
one angle or corner part being bent at 15 forming an angle-shaped cross section 16.
The two portions of the angle plate are then folded at 17 forming a double thickness corner piece, the combined cross sections of the part 16 and the rear portion 18 being such as to fit snugly in a space 19 between the base of the channel 1 and the brace strip 13. The corner strip may be driven into the adjoining corners of the side strips and secured by spot-w'eldin g, or riveting to the brace strip. This is done before the insertion of the cover strip.
In Fig. 4 the outer flange of the base channel is convex terminating in an edge 21 but otherwise the structure is similar to that shown in Fig. 1. This adapts the device'to run in a concave groove.
Fig. 5 shows an alternative construction in which the bottom of the base strip is bent back on itself at 19 and the flange formed with a concave edge 20. A cover plate 21 has its rear edge formed with aconcave flange 22 corresponding to the part 20 so that it,
forms a-rocking surface for the cover plate as the inner edge is snapped to place. The groove formed y the concave edge 20 may be used for a guiding surface to run on a guiding bead where desired.
What we claim as new is 1. In a window screen structure, the combination of a Wire mesh; 9. frame side comprising channel-shapedstrips having opposing flanges at their edges in interlocked engagement, the flanges at the inner edges clamping the wire mesh between them; and a brace strip of angle section extending lengthwise through the central andmajor portion of the frame side, the brace strip bemg positioned in one of the? channels of a frame side to form as viewed in cross section a triangle with the bottom of the channel as the base.
2. In a window screen structure, the combination of a wire mesh; a frame side comprising channel-shaped strips having opposingflanges at their edges in interlocked engagement, the flanges at the inner edges clamping the wire mesh between them; and a brace strip of angle section extending through the central and major portion of the frame side, the brace strip being positioned in one of the channels of a frame side to form as viewed in cross section a triangle with the bottom of the channel as the base andwith the edges of the brace strip in engagement with the flanges of the channel.

In a window screen structure, the combination of a wire mesh; a frame side comprising channel-shaped strips having opposing flanges at their edges in interlocked engagement, the flanges at the inner edges clamping the wire mesh between them; and a brace strip of angle section extending through the central and major portion of the frame side, the brace strip being positioned in one of the channels of a frame side to form as viewed in cross section a triangle with the bottom ofthe channel as the base, the brace strip being secured along its edges to the channel.
4. A channel structure having a base of channel form; a cover strip of channel form,
the flanges of the cover strip resiliently engaging the opposing flanges of'the base; and
a brace strip of angle section extending through the central and major portion of the channel structure between the cover and base strips, said brace strip being positioned on one of the channels of the channel structure to form as viewed in cross section a triangle with the bottom of the last-mentioned channel as the base.
5. A channel structure having a base of channel form; a cover strip of channel form, the flanges of the cover strip resiliently engaging the opposing flanges of the base; and
gaging t a bracestrip of angle section extending 7 through the central and major portion of the channel structure between the cover and base strips, said brace strip being positioned on one of the channels of. the channel structure to form as viewed in cross section a triangle with thebottom of the last-mentioned channel as the base, and with the edges of the brace strip engaging the flanges of said lastmentioned channel.

A channel structure having a base of channel form; a cover strip of channel form, the flanges of the cover strip resiliently 'ene opposing flanges of thebase; and a brace strip of angle section extending through the central andm ajor portion of the channel structure between the cover and base strips said brace strip being positioned on one o the channels of the channel structure to form as viewed in cross section a triangle with the bottom of the last-mentioned chan nel as a base, the base strip being secured along its edges to the channe 7. A corner channel structure having a base of channel form extending each side of the corner; a cover strip of channel form extending each side of the corner, the flanges of the cover strip resiliently en aging the opposing flanges of the base; a brace strip of angle section extending throughout the length pf each side; and a corner piece of angle shape in cross section conforming to the shape of the brace strip extending around the corner and between the brace strip and the bottoms "of the channels of the adjoining sides. 1
