Another object is the novel construction of means for propelling the objects around the track.
A. further object of the construction, comprises a base above which is mounted a circular track which is free to revolve thereon.
The track surface is provided with a series of score numerals. The track supports moving objects which are guided around the track and are caused to alternately advance one ahead of the other by spinning the track.
Fig. 1 is a top plan view of the game.
Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the toy.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged top plan view of guide yoke, for holding the end of horizontal axle.
Fig. 4l is an end view of the guide yoke showing the pointer.
Fig. 5 is a part section of center on line Y-Y, in Fig. 1.
Fig. 6 is a. section of a preferred form of moving objects and shows the position of the advancing cars.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 8 is a base, from the center of which rises a pivot' shaft 9, which supports a pivot bearing 10, the pivot bearing carries a circular track 11 at the lower end thereof, the track 11 is of material sufhciently thick to carry stored energy for continuing the revolution of the Objects 12, which are carried in a circular manner by a horizontal shaft 13. To the outer edge of the shaft 13 is mounted a wheel 14, which is supported on the base 8 and rolls around the track 11.
Supporting the inner end of the horizontal shaftA 13 is a. wheel 15 which rotates on the track 11.
The horizontal shaft 18 is journaled at 16 and 17 to the guide yoke 18 which fits loosely over the pivot bearing 10 so that it may revolve freely therein and guide the horizontal shaft and objects around the track 11. The outward end of the guide yoke 18, Fig. 1, is provided with a pointed end .19 for indican ing the winning score. The pivot bearing 10 is secured to the pivot shaft by a retaining pin 20, which passes through the pivot bearof the toy Serial No. 758,533.
ing 10 and in a. groove 21 in the pivot shaft 9. rlhe said pivot shaft being diametrically reduced at point 21 to accommodate the retaining pin 20.
rlhe track 11 is divided by lines 25 into spaces 26 each space being provided with a scoring numeral 22.
Fig. 6 shows a preferred form of a rolling object 12 and the method of alternately ad vancing each object by the cam 23 on the horizontal shaft 18 which moves back and forth in the groove 2d when in motion.
The operation of the game may now be described, assuming that the rolling objects 12 are in position as shown in Fig. 1, the track 11lis rotated by giving the pivot bearing 10 a quick spin with the thumb and finger, this will start the wheel 15 to rotate which imparts a rotary motion to 'the wheel 14 that rests on the base 8 thereby causing the said wheel to move around the cuter edge of the base in an opposite, direction to the movement of the track 11. The cam 23 on the revolving horizontal shaft 18, through contact with the vertical cross members of the vehicles adjacent the slot 2e, alternately advance the obj ccts 12 until the stored energy in the track 11 is ein hausted and the objects come to rest. The obj ect in advance is the winner and scores'the number indicated on the track 11 by the pointer 19.
'From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, the advantage of the construction and method of the operation will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art to which the invention `appertains, and while describing the principle of operation of the invention together with the device which is now considered to be the best embodiment thereof, it is to be understood -that the device shown is merely illustrat-ive and that various chang-es in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction. may be resorted to without departing from the principle or scope of the claims.
I claim as my invention- 1. il gaine comprising a circular track pivotally mounted on a base, a horizontal shaft having aA wheel on each end thereof, one wheel resting on the said track the other wheel resting on the said. base thereby constituting means to carry objects in a reverse direction to the track, a guide yoke journaled on a pivot bearing, constituting means for guiding the horizontal shaft around the track, a pivot shaft having a groove therein, the said pivot lltl bearing carrying a retaining pin Which passes through the said groove in-the pivot shaft constituting means for preventing the removal thereof.
2. A game comprising a supportingstructure, a. circular track plvoted thereon, a pivot bearing supporting the center of said track as ineans of revolving said track7 a horizontal. shaft supported at the ends by a "pair of Wheels the outer Wheel resting on the support- 'ing structure the inner Wheel resting on said LESTER s.
