The objects of my invention are, among other things, to provide anxi'mproved (:10
sure structure of this type of container and closure whereby a more perfect seal and reseal is secured for such improved closure; to provide a closure with a depending skirt por ti'on and a plurality of inwardly extending lips to engage with radially projectinglugs on the container in which the leading edges of the lip; portions shall beformed to engage with progressively increasing pressure the under surfaces of the lugs to draw downthe closure upon the rim of the container openings. Furthermore I also provide a novel and reinforced stop end for each of the to. coact with the lugs to limit the-rotation of the closure in the seating direction which stop end at the same time tends to draw down the cap of the closure upon the rim of the container opening with a distributed, substantially uniform pressure, thereby furnishing an effective closure seal which can be repeatedly used for rescaling the container opening after the closure has been initially removed.
A further feature is to reinforce each stop end by inwardly indenting its rear portion to form a more or less curved rib or brace which shall prevent any undue rotation of the closure beyond its predetermined closed position thereby rendering more effective the coaction between the stop ends and bottle lugs.
With the above and other objects in view,
my invention comprises the novel construc tion, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and then particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

The operation of my improved closure is substantially as follows: The closure 5 is set on thetop of the bottle neck 10 so that the lugs 9 are disposed between the several lips 8, the top or cap 6 resting on the rim-of the neck 10. Then the closure 5 is horizontally rotatedor twisted so that the leading ends 11 of the lips 8 engage the leading ends of the lugs 9. The continued rotation of the closure or cap causes the lips 8 to ride along the under surfaces of the-lugs 9 until thefaces 12 engage the leading ends of the lugs 9 Which stops the closure rotation. The curved double-thickness of the braces 13 prevents the faces 12 from yielding against any continued lapping the following.

The effect of these curved crimed braces 13 is to produce a compound rigi ity for the following lip ends and. integral faces 12 as well as for the adjacent skirtportion sothat the closure 5 is effectually revented from further rotation. It is mani est that I have embodied in my improved closure certain structural features which add to the efiectiveness of the'seal under allconditions of use no matter what may be the size of the closure and irrespective of the thickness and resiliency of the sheet-metal used in its construction. a i I claim as my invention 1.
