WATGH-LOGK ATTACHMENT FOR POCKETS.
Application filed December 15, 1927.
This invention relates to means for rctaining a watch, to prevent its being stolen or dropped from the pocket of a garment.
An object of the invention is to provide a watch lock adapted to be secured to a pocket of a garment, and which is capable of preventing the theft or dropping of the watch from the pocket.
Another object is the provision of a watch look as above described, which is of very simple nature, inexpensive to manufacture and install, very simple in its operation, and which in no way detracts from the normal appearance of the garment to which it is applied.
With the foregoing and other objects in View, which will be made manifest in the following detailed description and specifically pointed out in the appended claims, reference is had to the accompanying drawings for an illustrative embodiment of the invention, wherein:
Figure 1 is an elevation of that portion. of a garment immediately adjacent a pocket to which the Watch lock of my invention has been applied, and showing a Watch hanging outside the pocket upon my watch lock.
Fig. 2 is an elevation similar to Figure 1, but showing the watch and lock in dashed lines, as positioned inside the pocket.
Fig. 3 is an elevation of the watch lock and its supporting tape to which is also secured the conventional garment label.
Referring to the accompanying drawings wherein similar reference characters designate similar parts throughout, my invention comprises a watch lock adapted to be permanently secured within a pocket 1 of any gar-- ment 2, in which it may be desired to carry a watch or similar article for which it is desirable to provide means for preventing the dropping or theft thereof. This pocket comprises a sack 3 having a front flap 1 and to which access is possible through the opening 6 at the top thereof. This structure is purely conventional, and no claim is laid thereto.
Preferably across the front of the front flap 4, I provide a strip 11 of suitable tape. In the embodiment shown and described, the material of which this strip 11 is made, is relatively strong fabrig so that it is adapted Serial No. 240,146,
to provide a suitable support for the watch lock of my invention and the watch secured thereto. Secured to the strip 11 in any convenient manner such as by conventional stitching, is a second strip of tape 12 which also may be of any suitable material such as binding tape or the like. Preferably, the strip of tape 12 is secured at both ends to the center of the strip 11 so that a loop 13 is provided which normally depends from the strip 11 inside of the pocket 1. The strip 11 also provides a convenient support to which the identification label 14 with which garments are ordinarily supplied, may he seemed.
The manner of attaching a watch to the watch lock is as follows:
The lower end of the loop 13 is first slipped through the ring 16 carried by the stem 17 of the watch 18. The ring should be slipped substantially to the top end of the loop 13 so that a sufficient amount of the loop 13 extends through the ring 16 to permit the entire watch 18 to be dropped through that portion of the loop. Then the watch 18 may be slipped back as far as it will go upon the loop 13, the end of which will thus be engaged either upon itself as shown in Figures 1 and 2, or upon the stem 17. I
From the above described structure it will be readily appreciated that a watch lock is provided which will insure against theft of the watch or its being inadvertently dropped from the pocket. The loop 18 is of suflicient length to permit the watch to be withdrawn from the pocket for its observation; and when the watch is in the pocket, the entire watch lock is concealed from view so that it, in no manner, detracts from the normal appearance of the garment,
It will be understood that various changes in the details of construction may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A watch lock for pockets, comprising a strip of tape, having its ends permanently secured to the pocket and forming a loop greater in length than the height of a watch, said tape being relatively narrow, so that the loop Cir can be conveniently thrust through the ring or bail of a Watch and looped about the body of the Watch.
2. A Watch lock for pockets, comprising; a fiat strip of tape having its ends permanently secured to a pocket, and forming a loop greuter in length than the height of a Watch, said tape being relatively narrow, so that the loop can be conveniently thrust through the ring; or hail of :1 Watch and looped about the body of the Watch, the portions of the tape forming the sides of the loop, presenting the 5 mm! shle outwardly.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
