O. T. K. SCHMIDT VACUUM JACKETED VESSEL Filed Dec. 1926 Patented Nov.- 6 1928.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
VACUUM-'J'ACKETED VESSEL.
Application filed December 7, 1928, Serial No. 153,181, and in Germany March 23, 1926.
The vacuum-jacketed vessel or flask according to the present invention difi'ers from such vessels hitherto known in that the neck of the glass vessel proper projects beyond the casin i and is formed into a cup-like opening widened all round. This construction renders it easier to pour into and out of the flask, and facilitates drinking directly therefrom, without risking, during the pouring in or out of 1 the liquid, that drops of liquid at the outer surface of the flask drip into the interior of the casing and thus render it dirty or even damage it.
An embodiment of the invention is shown,
by way of example, in the only figure of the accompanying drawing, partly in elevation the neck being shown in section.
The flask 1, which is surrounded in the usual manner by a sheet metal casing 2 provided with a threaded neck part 3 designed to receive an internally threaded cap 5, has above the top edge of the neck part of the casing a neck 4 which is widened at the top edge outwardly to form a cup-like opening 5 thus providing a wider pouring-in and out opening for the flask. Thus it is ensured that during the pouring out or pouring in of liquid it is prevented that drops of liquid drip and run down along the outer surface of the flask into the sheet metal casing. The flask improved according to the invention differs consequently from the flasks hitherto used which project straight from the top edge of the casing 2, so that during the ouring out of the liquid, the drops generally ow down into the outer casing of the flask.
In the improved flask the neck 4 is first slightly reduced before it is enlarged.
A vacuum bottle, comprising a double walled 1glass vessel having a neck provided with a lling opening, the outer wall of said neck being reduced in diameter adjacent said filling opening and the inner wall of said neck merging with the reduced portion of said outer wall at said filling opening to form a lip of substantially the same diameter as the unreduced portion of said outer wall.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
OTTO TRAUGOTT KA'RL SCHMIDT.
