My invention relates to a new and useful installing device for placing reenforcing in concrete, and more particularly to a supporting and spacing device whereby the reenforcing wire mesh or bar mat may be supported in position with respect to the road bed while the concrete is being poured, to insure uniform level and proper spacing of the reenforcing material. I
My invention further relates to an in stalling device whereby a plurality of vertically spaced layers or lines of reenforcing wire mesh, or thelike, may be supported in a mold or form while the concrete is poured,
one layer of reenforcing wire mesh being near the bottom and one near the top of such mold, as may be desired.
To the above ends, my invention consists of a yoke or transverse supporting beam adapted to be supported by the upper edges of the walls of a mold or form into which concrete is to be poured, a plurality of pendant arms or hooks rigidly secured to said yoke at suitable intervals, said pendant arms being provided with vertically spaced and horizontally projecting lugs adapted to engage and support the transverse wires or bars of a reenforcing wire mesh or bar mat, locking pins adapted to engage the apertures n said lugs, and a handle on the end of said yoke whereby the same may be revolved or turned to withdraw said pendant arms from engagement with the reenforcing wire mesh after the concrete has been poured.
My invention further consists in the novel features and details of construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings and de scribed in the annexed specification.
For the purpose of illustrating my inven tion, I have shown, in the accompanying drawings, a form thereof which is at present preferred by me since it wlll give, in practice, satisfactory and reliable results, although it is to be understood that the va rious instrumentalities of which my invention consists can be variously arranged and organized and that my invention is not limited to the precise arrangement and organization of these instrumentalities as hereinshown and described.

Referring to the drawings, in which like reference characters indicate like parts, 1 designates the road bed or sub-grade of a street or the like, on the sides of which are positioned the suitably spaced construction walls or mold sections 2 between which the concrete is to be poured and which support the transversely disposed supporting beam or yoke 3, from which depend the supporting arms or hooks 4, rigidly secured thereto by the bolts or rivets 5. 6 and 6 designate upper and lower horizontally projecting apertured lugs or hooks which are adapted to support the transverse wires 7 of the reenforcing mat of bars or wire mesh 8 or the like, shown in Fig. 4. YA locking pin 9, having the upper handle 10, is adapted to be inserted through the vertically aligning apertures 11 in said lugs 6 and 6 to prevent displacement of the transverse wires, 7 of the wire mesh 8 with respect to said lugs, thereby to maintain the wire mesh 8 in position while the concrete is being poured in the mold. A handle 12 is rigidly secured to either or both ends of the yoke or beam 3 by means of the bolts or rivets 13, whereby said yoke may be turned or revolved to withdraw the pendant arms from engagement with the wire mesh 8 after the concrete has been poured.
The beam or yoke 3 is further provided with the pendant supporting arms 15, rigidly secured thereto by the bolts or rivets 5, and having the outwardly projecting lugs 16 and 17 which support the transverse wires 7 of the wire mesh 8 or the like, in the manner shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 5, the purpose of said arms 15 being merely to support the body of the wire mesh 8 against sagging until the concrete has been poured, two or three arms 4t having lock ing pins 9 coacting therewith being sufficient to prevent the displacement of the wire mesh 8, although it is to be understood that the number of arms 1- and 15, as well as the number and character of the lugs 6 and 6 and 16 and17 may be varied to suit varying requirements, the particular number and character of such arms and lugs shown in the drawings being merely illustrative of the invention.
Thus, for instance, when it is desired to build a concrete road having, say, a double line or layer of reenforcing wire mesh, that is, one layer of reenforcing wire mesh near the bottom, and one near the to 3 thereof, the subper and lower apertured lugs 6 and 6 and the lugs 16 and 17, of the pendant arms or hooks 4 and 15 respectively, with the locking pins 9 passing through the apertures 11 in the lugs 6 6 to prevent the displacement of said wire mesh. After the concrete has been poured to the desired height, the locking pins 9 are Withdrawn from their engaging position, and the beam 3 is turned or revolved in the direction of the arrows 14, by the handle 12, through an angle of 90 degrees, so that said handle 12 and said arms 4 and 15 occupy the position shown dotted in Fig. 3. In this posiv tion, the arms 4 and 15 are withdrawn from engagement with the wire mesh 8 which is now suspended in the concrete. To permit of the withdrawal of the arms 4 and 15 from engagement with the wire mesh 8 in the manner just described, after the concrete has been poured, the arms 4 and 15 are made shorter. than the distance between any two successive wires of the reenforcing wire mesh. The beam or yoke 3 is then'advanced or moved to new position and revolved in the reverse direction so that the arms 4 and 15 are again in the. position shown in Figs. 1 and 2, and the operation is again repeated.
WVhile in the foregoing description and in the accompanying drawings, I have disclosed pendant arms or hooks 4 and 15 having two vertically spaced outwardly projecting lugs for the support of two corresponding, vertically spaced, layers of wire mesh or the like, it is to be understood that it is within the scope of my invention to vary the number of said arms and lugs to suit varying requirements, the particular arrangement shown and described being merely for the purpose of illustration.
It will thus be apparent that I have devised a new and useful installing device for placing reenforcing in concrete, which embodies the.
features of advantage enumerated as desirable n the statement of the invention and the above descriptlon and while I have, in the accompanying specification shown and described a preferred embodiment thereof, it is usceptible of modification in various particulars without departing from the spirt or scope of the invention, or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a device of the character stated, a yoke, pendant hooks supported therefrom, arms extending laterally from said hooks, certain of said arms having aligning holes therein, upright pins positioned in said holes, and a laterally extending handle projecting from said yoke, whereby said yoke and hooks may be revolved as a unit.
2. In a device of the character stated, a mold for the reception of concrete, a yoke supported thereon, a plurality of pendant arms rigidly secured to said yoke and having outwardly projecting apertured lugs adapted to engage and support reenforcing fabric, locking pins engaging the apertures in said lugs to prevent the displacement of said reenforcing fabric while the concrete is being poured, and a handle for said yoke, whereby the latter may be actuated with respect to said mold to withdraw said pendant from engagement with said reenforcing fabric after the concrete has been poured.
3. In a device of the character stated, a mold for the reception of concrete, a yoke supported thereon, a plurality of pendant arms rigidly secured to said yoke and having outwardly projecting apertured lugs adapted to engage and support the transverse wires of a reenforcing wire mesh, locking pins engaging the apertures in said lugs to prevent the dis placement of said reenforcing wire mesh, While the concrete is being poured, and a handle for said yoke, whereby the latter may be moved with respect to said mold to withdraw said pendant arms from engagement with said reenforcing wire mesh after the concrete has been poured.

mold for the reception of concrete, a yoke supported thereon, a plurality of spaced pendant arms rigidly secured to said yoke and having outwardly projecting apertured lugs adapted to engage the transverse wires of the reenforcing wire, mesh, locking pins engaging the apertures in said lugs to prevent the displacement of said reenforcing wire mesh, a plurality of pendant arms rigidly secured to said yoke and having outwardly projecting lugs adapted to support said reenforcing wire mesh in position, and a handle for said yoke whereby the same may be actuated to withdraw said pendant arms from engagement with said reenforcing wire mesh in said mold after the concrete has been poured, the length of said pendant arms being less than the distance between any two successive transverse wires of said reenforcing wire mesh.
5. In a device of the character stated, a mold for the reception of concrete, a yoke transversely supported thereon, a plurality of vertically spaced, outwardly projecting, apertured lugs, adapted to engage the transverse wires of corresponding, vertically spaced, layers of reenforcing wire mesh, locking pins engaging the apertures in said lugs to prevent the displacement of said reeni'orcing layers, a plurality of spaced pendant arms carried by said yoke and having vertically spaced outwardly projecting lugs adapted to support said reenforcing layers and a handle for said yoke whereby the same may be revolved to withdraw said pendant arms from engagement with said reenforcing layers in said mold after the concrete has been poured, the length of said pendant arms being less than the distance between any two successive transverse wires of said reenforcing wire mesh.
6. In a device of the character stated, a mold for thereception of concrete, a transverse yoke supported thereon, a plurality of spaced arms rigidly secured to said yoke and adapted to extend downwardly fnto said mold, each of said arms being provided with a plurality of vertically spaced, horizontally projecting, apertured lugs of varying lengths adapted to support the transverse wires of a reenforcing fabric, locking pins engaging the apertures in said lugs to prevent the displacement of said fabric, handles on the outer ends of said pins, a plurality of pendant arms rigidly secured to said yoke and adapted to extend into said mold, each or" said arms having a plurality of vertically spaced, outwardly projecting, lugs adapted to support said reen-v torcing fabric in position while the concrete is being poured, and handles on either end of said yoke whereby the same may be revolved to withdraw said pendant arms from engagement with said reent'orcing fabric, the length ofsaid pendant arms being less than the distance between the wires of said reentorcing fabric.
