As those versediin the art to whichmv invention relates are "quite familiar with the construction and operation of paving machines such" asillustrated, brief reference onlyneed be made to the main parts of the machine as, follows: I
In the drawings 1 denotes the mixing drum and 2 the frame work of the machine supportingthe same for in rotation. 3 de notes the boom of the boom'and bucket distributor, and 4 designates the bucket thereof The bucket 4' is adapted to traverse the boom longitudinally thereof, being supported by hangers 5 carried by a trolley or carriage 6 which has the rollers 7 traveling in the channels of the two channel beams or members that form the fabricated boom structure. The bucket 4 isqactuated by cable meansB connected up therewith inthe usual way and adapted to automatically operate, certain bottom door mechanism for the bucket 4, not specifically set forth be cause not material to the invention. There is provided a clutch operating lever 9 which 5 controls the action of certain clutch mechanism like that shown in my reissue patent. Said clutch mechanism is also controlled by a hand lever 10 as well known.v v
From the mixing drum 1 the concrete aggregates mixed therein are fed to I the bucket 4 by a chute 11. 1
The trolley or carriage 6 is equipped with cured thereto near its innermost end, and
this cam actuator in my previous constructical actuating rod 14 secured to the outer end of the clutch lever 9. In operation as the bucket 4 is moved inwardly on the boom 3 and reaches the point adjacent to the mixing drum 1, in which it is illustrated in Figure 1, the cam 12 rides into coutactwith the roller 13 andraises the rod 14 actuates the lever 9 and disengages the clutch that transmits. the driving power to the cable 8 for causing the inward movement of the bucket 4 on :the boom 3. In this way the cam actuator 12 knocks out or disengagcs the eflec-tive operating clutch aforesaid, which is not i'fully illustrated, and the movement of the bucket 4 is discontinued just as it arrives at a position beneath. the chute 11.
In the practice of my present invention I have formed the cam actuator 12 near the outer end of its cam portion or surface with a hooker shoulder 12 adapted to cooperate with a pivoted locking member 14 which is pivoted at 1.5 to a. short vertical standard 16 attached to the boom 3. The roller 13 is journaled upon the locking member 14. The free end ot the locking member 14 is adapted to engage the hook or shoulder portion 12 of the cam actuator 12, see Fig. 1 and Fig. 4, and when in such engagement, which takes place automatically as the bucket 4 reaches the inner end of its transverse movement on the boom, the said locking member 14 looks the trolley or carriage 16 from outward movement.
lVhen the lever 10 is thrown in order to engage one oi. the operating clutches for the cable 8 to cause the outward traverse of the bucket 4 on the boom, the clutch lever 9 is elevated slightly and raises the locking member 14 as well as the rod 14 and thereby positions the member 14 out of the path of the hook or shoulder 12 so that the carriage '6 with its bucket 4 is free tomove out on the boom under the operating. action of the cable 8 and the clutch made effective by the movement of the lever 1.0.
The action of the parts in an opposite direction to enable the locking member 14 to become effective has been previously described. It takes place when the carriage 6 reaches the inner end of the boom 3 and v the cam actuator 12 engages'the roller 18 and lifts the locking member 14 until the latter drops back in front of the hook or shoulder 12.
From the foregoing it will be seen that no matter with what force the contents of the drum are dischargedinto the bucket 4, the said bucket cannot move away from the mixing machine. Likewise, when the boom 3 is downwardly inclined and the natural tendency of the bucket 4 is to gravitate in a direction away from the drum 1, such movement is prevented effectively by coaction of the locking member 14 with the cam actuator 12.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: r

boom and bucket concrete distributing attacl'iment comprising a boom, a bucket, a carriage to travel on the boom and supporting the bucket, clutch knock-out mechanism carried by said carriage, and locking means cooperative with said clutch knockout mechanism to hold the carriage and its bucket in a predetermined position on the boom. V

In a machine of the class described, a boom and bucket concrete distributing attachment comprising a boom, a bucket, a carriage to" travel on the boom and supporting the bucket, clutch knock-out mechanism carried by said carriage, and loclrin g means cooperative with said clutch knock-out mechanism to hold the carriage and its bucket in a predeterm ned position on the boom, the clutch knock-out means being automatically cooperative with the locking means as the bucket reaches its said predetermined position on the boom.
3. A concrete distributing attachment for mixers, comprising a boom, a bucket totravel along the boom, a carriage directly supported by the boom and carrying the 4. mechanism for supplying driving power for moving the carriage and its bucket, a cam for actuating said clutch .mechanism to render it inefi'ective and mounted on the carriage, and locking means cooperative with said cam to prevent movement of the bucket until said locking means is released, the cam aforesaid being automatically engageable with the locking member to render the latter operative to act on the cam to prevent its locking function.

a carriage to travel along the boom and supporting the bucket, a locking member on the boom, means on the carriage engageable by the locking member on the boom to hold the bucket aga nst movement in one direction on the boom, control means to control movement of the bucket on the boom, and an instrumentality operated by the control means to cause release action of the locking member as the said movement of thebucket is initiated.
8. In a concrete-distributing machine, the combination of a boom, a power driven bucket supported to travel on the boom, a locking member cooperative with said bucket to hold the bucket against movement in a predetermined position, and means actuated by locking movement of the locking means for discontinuing delivery of power to the bucket.
9. In a concrete-distributing machine, the combination of a boom, a power driven bucket mounted to move on the boom, a re leasable lock for the bucket, and means responsive to the locking and releasing of the bucket for respectively discontinuing and applying power to the bucket.
10. In distributing attachments for concrete mixers the combination of a boom, .a bucket, a carriage mounted to travel on the boom and to support the bucket, locking means on the boom, means on the carriage engage-able by the locking means to retain the bucket against movement, means on the carriage to cam the locking means to locking relation with respect tothe carriage holding means, and means actuated by such camming action for causing movement of the bucket.
11. In mechanism of the class described, 7
the combination of a bucket mounted to reciprocate, means for supplying power to the bucket for moving the bucket reciprocally, a releasable lock for securing 'the bucket against movement, and means actuated incident to operation of the lock for controlling application of power to the bucket.
