FLASK CLAMP.
Application led November 29, 1927. Serial No. 236,499.
The device forming the subject matter of this application is a clamp for a flask of the kind used b y dentists in the making of false teeth. The invention aims to provide a novel form of clamp which can be operated by the manipulation of a single screw. Another object of the invention is to provide a clamp which will hold the parts of the flask together with a resilient action, thereby insuring a firm clamping together of the parts of the flask. Another object of the invention is to provide a clamp of the sort specified which may be used on flasks of known construction, without making changes in the flask, it being unnecessary for a dentist to cast` awayhis supply ofk flasks in order that he may take advantage of the clamp that forms the sub ject matter of this invention.
It is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that type to which the invention appertains. Y
Vith the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combina tion and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes Y embodiment Vof the invention in the precise n may be made within the herein disclosed scope of what is from the spirit of the invention.

The device forming the subject matter of this application is adapted to be used with flasks of dilerent sorts, but primarily with a flask of known form, the same including a body, denoted generally by the numeral 1. The body 1 of the flask comprises a cupshaped base 2 upon which rests a removable intermediate member or ring 3, lsurmounted by a lid 4 having internal depending projections 5 which engage within the intermediate member 3 to hold the lid and the intermediate member together against relative Iateral movement.
The base 2 of the flask has an outstanding front lug 6 provided with an opening 7. On the intermediate member 3 there are parallel wings 8 located above the lug 6 on the base claimed, without departing 2. In addition to the lug 6, which may be denominated a first lug, the base 2 has rear or second lugs 9, provided with openings 10 and with slots 12, the slots 12 forming seats in which are received, depending lingers 14 on the intermediate member 3, to prevent relative lateral shifting between the'intermediate member 3 and the base 2. The intermediate member 3 has wings 11 that are located above the lugs 9.
The flask above described is of known construction, and no novelty is claimed for it, saving in so liar as it may enter into combina tion with parts hereinafter described.
The clamp is a composite structure and includes a main member 15 embodying a metal cross bar 16 into which a screw 17 is threaded, the screw constituting a pressure member, and having in its outer end, a socket 18 adapted to receive tool (not shown) whereby the screwis rotated. The clamp includes a frame made of resilient material, the diverging'arms 19 of the frame being extended through the cross bar 16. The arms 19are bowed slightly, as shown at 26 in Figure 3, to enhance the resiliency of the clamp. The arms 19 are connected by an end piece Q0 on which is pivoted a latch 21, in the form of a U-shaped bail, the eyes 22 of the latch or bail being mounted on the end piece 20. The arms 19 are provided at their remote ends with rectangularly disposed lingers 23 arranged approximately parallel to each other and terminating in angular eX- tentions 24 located approximately parallel to the arms 19, the eXtensions24 terminating in upstanding knobs 25 which are disposed about parallel to the fingers 23.
In practical operation, the clamp is mounted in place with the lingers 23 extending down behind the wings 11 and behind the lugs 9, as shown in Figure 4, the knobs 25 extending upwardly into the openings 10 of the lugs 9, and the arms 19 and the crossV bar 16 being located above the lid 4, as clearly shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3 of the dra ings. The bail or latch 21 is swung downwardly until is extends around the wings 8 on the intermediate member 3, and beneaththe first lug 6 on the base 2. The screw 17 then is rotated and fed downwardly until it bears upon .the lid 4, and the parts 2-3-4 of the flask will be held securely together, especially in view of the fact that the arms 19 have some'resiliency.
Heretofore it has been the custom to hold the parts of the flask together by three separate instrumentalitiesv mounted in the several openings 7-10. One object of the present invention, therefore, is that the parts of the flask be held together by a single instrumentality, and through the manipulation of a single movable element, to Wit, the screw l?. lit is to be observed that 'the extensions 24C ot Figure l engage with the lugs 9 on the bas-e 2, the bail-shaped latch 21 coolgierating With the lug 6 and with the Wings 8. Another advantage of the present invention, therefore, is that it may be used on flasks or" a standard and known form, Without Working any changes in the flask. Finally, the general structural features ot the clamp, including the resilient arms 19 and the single screw l?, malte a better article than those which have preceded it.
