This invention relates to winding maj be movable, as upwardly from rotary driv- 'ing means having its axis horizontal. 'It is known in these machines to provideindividual ejectors, arranged oppositethe respective wound masses of the packages being formed, for automatically causingthev packages to be shifted clear of the driving means and. stop their rotation when they have been filled or wound to a given diameter. I-Ieretofore, however, when it was desired to change the diameter of the packages produced in these machines it was necessary to adjustindividually all of the mentioned ejectors. My present invention contemplates avoiding this and makin only one adjusting operation necessary. It also con templates the provision of means whereby the attendant can determine at a glance just what diameter and hence yardage the produced packages will have. In my machine I further use an eccentric to serve as an ejector and in order that it may bemade to operate with equal efficiency in whatever position it is adjusted Iprovide in a novel way for further adjusting thereof.

A dial plate 23 is secured to the end of the machine and has a dial 24 with suitable indices thereon indicating yardage, for example, and with reference to this dial is movablea pointer 25 pivoted in the dial plate and connected by gearing 26, journalled in the dial plate, withthe shaft 14. By this means the attendant canreadily determine what yardage. each spool will attain before stopping of its rotation will occur.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim is: V
1. In combination, a frame, rotary driving means therein having its axis substantiall horizontal, the frame havingmeans for supporting the cores of the packages to beformed incontacting relation to but so as from the drh ing means, a devices arranged to be en gaged by the peripheries ot the wound masses of the respective packages in the winding thereof and on such engagement shift the packages away from the driving means, and a common support for all the ejectors adjustable in the frame to move the ejectors simultaneously toward or from the packages.
2.
