My invention relates to a new and useful imm'ovement in time stamps and has for its object to provide a highly eiiicient and relatively inexpensive device which is economical to manufacture, easy to assemble. and requires a minimum of power from the time keeping elementto operate the movable parts.

In the drawing. A designates a time-keeping member, preferably a watch provided with stem winding and setting mechanism B. C is a handle secured by a threaded pin D to a curved portion E which is secured to the housing for the time-stamping mechanism. The portion E is connected to the housing 1 ,by four screws 2 and 3. respectively. Holes 4 are drilled in the casing of the watchA directly opposite each other, and into theseholes the inner ends of the screws 8 are adapted to project for positively holding the watch A in position in the housing 1.

The toothed wheel 12 has a smaller toothed wheel 13 associated there with, both the toothed wheels 12 and 13 being mounted on'a shaft 14 fixed in the housing 1'.

watchface bearing the numerals 1 to 12, as
shown in Fig. V. 23 is a spaceprovided in the rubber block 22 in which may be inserted the appropriate type plugs, to inclicatcthe month, day and year.
In the operation of my device the watch A 1s open-face and of a standard. size variety, having a rear plate for the hack of said watch, which plate I provide with a circular opening, as shown at 24.- in FiglV, in order that the cylindrical drum 8 may freely fit into said opening 24. I then drive the member 6 carrying the lever 7 securely upon the'shaft 5 which is the end opposite to that end which carries the minnte'hand of said watch, The watch A is then placed face up in the housing 1 and securedin position therein bythe screws 3, the ends of which pass into the holes 4 which I make'in the sides of the watch casing A to receive the same The lever 6 then fits intotheslot 9 in the cylindrical drum 8, and by means of It will be noted that the shaft 7 isof sufficient length so'that minor inaccuracies may readily be taken care of and. yet have sufficient operative length to at all times fit into operative relationship with the cylindrical drum 8. 'j i The small gear wheel 11 and the cylindrical drum 8 beingmounted together on the shaft 10, rotation of said shaft is caused by the drum 8, which shaft in turn drives the small cylindrical drum 19 which carries the hour-indicatingpointer 18. The small gear wheel 11 meshes with the large gear wheel 12, which in turn is fixed to the small gear wheel 13, and these are mounted for rotation on the shaft 14: fixed in the housing 1. The large gear wheel 15 in turn meshes with the small gear wheel 13, which drives the sleeve '16, which in turn drives the cylindrical drum 17 mounted on the lower end of said sleeve 16, which drum carries the minute-indicating pointer 21. Thedrum 16 and the drum 17 rotate freely within the rubber member 22. The indicating figures on the rubber member 22 show the hours and minutes and the pointers 18 and 21 indicate just what hour and substantially what minute the watch A records. When the month, day and year plugs are inserted in the opening 23the time stamp is ready for use, and by contacting the face shown in Fig. V with an ink pad the design may be transmitted to the letter or other paper which it is desired to imprint with the time-indicating design shown in V Fig. V.

another cylindrical drum connected to said last-named large gear wheel and adapted to be operated thereby, said cylindrical drum carrying a time-indicating pointer, a smaller cylindrical drum mounted in said last-named cylindrical drum and carrying another timeindicating pointer, and a printing-pad having time-indicating characters thereon cooperatively associated with said time-indi eating pointers whereby the time indicated on the face of the watch is recorded on the bottom side ofthe time stamp.

A time stamp comprising, in combination, a casing having an opening formed in its rear face, a watch mechanism positioned within the casing with the minute hand shaft ofthe mechanism terminating within the confines of the casing and in alinementwith the opening, resilient time indicating pointers located exteriorly of the casing, and means for connecting the minute hand shaft with the time indicating pointers, said means comprising a member rigidly mounted on the extremity of the minute hand shaft, a 1ncmber interposed between said last named member and the time indicating pointers, and a lever carried by one of said members and adapted to engage slidingly the other of said 4.
