Description

ATTORNEY INVNTOR TVI/MONTROSE T. W. MONTROSE RADIO LOG AND PROGRAM DEVICE Aug. 7, 1928.
THOMAS w. MONTROSE, or
JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY.
RADIO Los AND ritos-nan: nnvron. i
Application filed June 1,
This invention relates to theclass of devices for associating logor record and sheets containing programs of different activities.,
The principal object of the present invention is the provision of a device in which ,a record or log, such as a record or logpof Y radio stations, their' locations, wave lengths and owners containedon one'strip or sheetv 1o will be associated with a program such as the, daily broadcast features on another sheet so that arperson may conveniently and eX- peditiously ascertain information how to diala radio set to bring in aparticular fea'- i ture of a program being broadcast from a particular station.
The nature of the invention and its distinguishing features and advantages will appear when the following specication is read 2o in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device, the case being open, and illustrating the manner in which a program sheet is Vas held, and the manner in which the log strip or sheet may be exhibited; and
Figure 2 is a sectional View taken on the line 2-2 of Figure 1, the case being shown closed.
Referring now more particularly to the views of the drawing, it will be apparent that the device of the present invention includes a case which is in the form of a book. The said case 10 comprises covers 1 1 and 12, a back 13` between opposed portions of the covers 11 and 12, and a frame 14 secured to the cover 12. rThe cover 11 is movable by virtue of a hinged connection 15 with respect to the frame 14 to cover and uncover the same. A leaf 16 is hingedly connected as at 17 vwith the side of the frame 14 adjacent the back 13. The free edge of the leaf 16 is movable into a recess 18 in the side of the frame 14 adjacent that with which the leaf 16 is hingedly connected.
1n order to retain one or more sheets having a program consisting of the daily broadcast features, for instance, there is provided means adapted to engage portions or such sheet or sheets. In the present instance the said means consist of elastic members 19 secured respectively to the corners of the leaf 16. Thus provision is made for engaging the corners of asheet, such as the one designated at 20, having the program aforesaid. rlhe sheet 2O` will be one cut from a 1927. Serial No. 195,834.
page of a daily newspaper which makes a practice of printing these programs. In order that arecord or log may be kept of the radio stations, their locations, wave lengths, and owners`,there is provided a strip or sheet 21. YThe said information may be inscribed on the sheet 21 which is properly lined and indexed for that purpose. One end of the sheet 21 is'secured toa roller 22 which will be of the spring actuated type. The said roller 22 is mounted for rotation. on the frame 14 and is arranged at one end thereof. The roller -22 may be mounted in any suitable manner, and in the present instance the trunnions respectively at the opposite ends thereof are disposed in recesses 28 in portions of the frame 14. The sheet 21 is extended through an end wall of the frame 14 by virtue of an opening 24 formed between the end wall of the frame 14 and the cover 12. The free end of the sheet 21 has a stop member 25 secured thereto vwhich prevents the sheet 21- from being moved beyond a certain point, when the roller 22 operates to rewind the sheet. This is so because the stop member 25 will engage the end member of the frame 14 having the opening 24, as shown most clearly in Figure 2.
From the foregoing'it will be apparent that the device serves for associating program sheets and a record or log sheet so that a person may readily select desired information for carrying out radio-receiving operations. By throwing back the cover 11 the program sheet 20 will be fully exposed. Any particular feature of a program being broadcast by a particular station may be selected. The wave length of a particular station may be quickly ascertained by gripping` the stop member 25 and pulling out on the same to withdraw any desired portion of the sheet 21 on which the record or log is kept. By releasing the pulling force on the stop member the roller 22 automatically operates to rewind the sheet 21 to the extent of its movement, limited only by the stop member 25, as will be understood. Vlien the cover 11 is in a closed position over the frame 14, the sheets 2O and 21 will be housed andpbe protected and will always be conveniently accessible. The means or elastic members 19 on the leaf 16 serve for removably holding the program sheets which will be changed from day to day. It will therefore be understood that provision is made for quickly inserting new sheets andfor removing old ones.
I claim:
l. A device comprising a case, a hinged leaf Within said case, sheetretaining means` i sheet to present any desired portion Ofl said log-sheet exteriorly Of the case, and means connectedwith the roller adapted to rotate the roller to rewind the Vlog-sheet thereon.
2. A device comprising a case, a hinged leaf Within said case, sheet-retaining means on said leaf, a log-sheet, a roller arranged in said case, said log-sheet having' one end connected with and normally Wound on said roller, and the opposite end of said sheet extending through `a wall of said case to provide aV free endythe free'end of said 10g-V sheet having a stop member to limit the movement of said log-sheet in one direction,
and said free end ofthe log-sheet adapted to'be gripped to unwind the log sheet to present anyde'sired portion of the log-sheet exteriorly Of the case, and meansconnected' said leaf, a spring roller rotatably mounted at one end of said frame, a logfsheet, One
end Ofsaid log-sheet connected at oneend.
with and normally Wound On said roller, the
opposite end of said log-sheet extending througha portion of said frame to provide a free end, and a stop member connected with the free end of said logt-Sheet, as and for the purpose specified.
