For the sake of convenience, the edge 23 may be termed the front edge of the pouring slot since this edge is in advance of the edge 24 in the direction of rotation of the dumper trough to discharge the metal therefrom. The edge 24 may, therefore, be called the rear edge of the pouring slot.
The damper trough 15 is also provided with a filling opening 25 disposed partially beyond the end of the mold l0 and this opening is bounded by the rear edge 26 which as shown in Fig. 7, is disposed in substantial alinement with the rear edge 24 of'the pouring slot and by a front edge 27 which displaced or oifsct from the front edge 23 of the pouring slot. Thus, it will be seen that the Wall of the dumper is continued as at 28 to prevent spilling of molten metal from the filling opening as the damper is rotated to discharge the metal through the pouring slotinto the mold. In the particular form of the invention shown, the edge27 of the filling opening is disposed. substantially in almement with the center .line of the pouring slot 20.
Fig. 4 illustrates the. dumper in its position for filling and metal can be poured 1nto the dumper until it reaches the dash line 0050;", thus giving a maximum capacity to the 'dumper. In this figure it will be noted that the portion 28 of the dumper will be disposed above a part of the metal.
In Fig. 5 the dumper has been rotated to discharge part of the metal and the level of the'metal left in the dumper is indicated at g -iy.

' From the showing in Figs. 4, 5 and 6, it will be evident that the portion 28 of the dumper will form a n'otective wall'or roof wall for preventing metal from being spilled out of the filling openin during the movement of the duinper to ischarge the metal into the mold. Furthermore, it will be obvious from'the showing in Fig. 4 that the part of'the dumper which extends beyond the mold increases its total capacity, which is important] for unless the dumpcr capacity is large the casting. Walls will be thin. Furthermore, this increased capacity is at the bell end of the casting where the most metal is needed. Y
Although one specific embodiment of the invention has been particularly shown and described, it will be understood that the invention is capable of modification and that changes in the construction and in the arrangement of the various cooperating parts may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention, as expressed What Iclaim is:
1. A damper trough for centrifugal casting machines comprising an elongated hollow body having a longitudinally extending pouring slot therein and a filling opening adjacent one end of the body, one edge of said filling opening being displaced circumferentially from the corresponding edge of the pouring slot.
2. A rotatable dumpcr trough for use in a centrifugal casting machine having a filling slot and a pouring slot, said fillin slot being arranged laterally of the centerdinc of the pouring slot and in the rear thereof in the direction of rotation of the dumper.
3. A dumper having discharge and filling openings staggered with respect to an axial plane of the dumpcr.
4-. A dumpcr trough for use in a ccntrifugal casting machine having a rotatable mold, comprising an elongated hollow body of a length greater than that of the mold, said body having provided therein a delivery slot of a length substantially equal to that of the mold and a filling slot extending in prolongation of said delivery slot, but with its center line angular-1y displaced around said body from the angle of the filling slot and substantially parallel thereto.
5. A rotatable dumper trough for centrifugal casting machines, said trough having an elongated pouring slot therein and having a filling slot conununicating with one end of the pouring slot, said slots having their rear edges in the direction of rotation of the trough, disposed substantially in alinement and having their front edges offset, the filling slot being narrower than the pouring slot.
6. A rotatable dumper trough for centrifugal casting machines, having a pouring slot extending longitudinally thereof. and a lilling slot colnmuuicali11g with the pouring slot, one edge of the filling slot being disposed in substantial alinemcnt with the center line of the pouring slot.
7. A rotatable dumper trough for centrifugal casting machines, having a pouring slot extending longitudinally thereof, and a filling slot communicating with the pouring slot, one edge oi? the filling slot being disposed in substantial alinement with the center line of the pouring slot, and the other edge of the pouring slot being alincd with the rear edge of the pouring slot.
8. A dumper trough for use in a centrifugal casting machine having a rotatable mold, comprising an elongated hollow body of a length greater than that of the mold, said body having provided therein a slot extending substantially throughout the length of the mold and beyond the mold, and a roof Wall over that part of the slot which extends beyond the mold and partially covering said extending part of the slot.
9. A dumper trough for use in a ccntrifbeyond the mold and partially eovering seid extending part of the slot, said tool Well being of a length suflicienl; to project into the mold.
