Application filed Key,
This invention relates to. pressing machines, particularly garment pressing ma chines and has for its object agartlcularly simple and eflicient means for worln in a pie-arranged position on, the lower pressing element or buck and particularly for holding plaits in a garment after the plaits have been arranged or manipulated prior to the pressing operation.
The invention consists in the novel-tea? turns and in the combinations and constructions hereinafter set forth and claimed.
lln descrihing this invention, reference is had to the accompanying drawing in whlch lilre characters designate corresponding parts in all the views,
Figure l is a sideelevation ot a pressing machine embodying my invention.
hire a is a lraentary plan view ol the machine which supports the worlr holding means being shown l have here illustrated my invention as applied to the conventional torm ol garment pressing machi including upper and lower pressing elements, one ol which is movahle toward and from the other.
"l he worlr holding means includes preterahly a plurality of stra s arranged to buclr, the straps being secured at their rear ends and having self contained means at their tront ends for holding the straps tightliy across the work on the huck and thus'hol the work or-plaits formed-in the work preliminary to the pressing. o eration.
Preferably, the strasare shiftab eior adjustable lengthwiseo the'buck. r l a It designates the straps which are shown as secured to a rodv 15 extending-lengthwise of the buck in the rear thereoj, this rod beolding the 7 parts seen in Figure l, the lower pressing element or huclr and the contiguous parts of n dtransversely across t e work'on the 'Sflld strap being secured at its rear end ranssme-nacnmn mums n'rrhcnmnn'r.

inglsupported-by a back plate 16 which is secured to the frame in the rear of the buck. he straps are sli'dabl'e' along the rod 15 and have, loops or eyes. 17 through which the rod extends. ,The rod 15 is arranged below the level of the buck. The means self contai'ned with the straps for holding them tightly across the face of the buck ishere shown as weights 18 secured to the front end of the straps. Normally, thesestraps are entirely in the rear of the buck, the weights resting on the frame of themachine.
-When thework is arranged or when the plaits have been arranged by the operator, he draws the first strap over them and owing to q the weight 17, the plaits are held is arranged, The operator arranges the plaits from one end toward the other along the buck and as he arranges them, draws a strap over the plaited work to hold the plaits. When the worlr is completely; arranged, the press is operated to bring the head down onto the worlr and the straps thus perms nently forming the plaits.
at we claim is: i
A pressing machine com prising upper and lower cooperating pressing elements, one at which is movable toward and from the other, and means for holding the worlr on the lower element comprising a flexible strap arranged to extend transversely of the lower elemenli,
an having a weightat its front end.
