MAX BAUMGARTEL, OF RODEWISCH, GERMANY.
MEANSFOR CONVEYING AWAY EXHAUST GASES FROM :MQTOB, CARS IN GABAGES.
Application filed November 2, 1926, Serial No. 145,838, and in Germany Augnst 31, 1926.
In garages it is not advisable to let the engines run for a long time as the poisonous carbon dioxides of the exhaust gases are liable to cause poisoning.
This invention relates to the ventilation of exhaust gases are always conducted into the atmosphere. Flexible metal tubes are used as connections for the motor cars so that free movability of the motor cars is not impeded and when a motor car is started the exhaust pipe is automatically disconnected from the ve tilating device.
A ventilating device according to the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing in which Fig. 1 shows in side elevation a device for a single ear.
Fig. 2 shows in plan view a device for several cars.
Fig. 3 shows in horizontal section and in vertical section the ventilation pipe with shutting off valve in the shutting off position. Fig. 4 shows similar views the shutting off flap being in the open position.-
In the garage a a ventilation means, 6, f to the outer side is arranged to which by flexible metal tubes d the exhaust c of the motor car is connected. The exhaust gases of the engine are thus conducted directly into the atmosphere. The silencers f might be arranged as absorbers to avoid troublesome noises. In order that to one ventilation device several motor cars may be connected shutting off elements it are inserted into the ventilation tube 9 so that, if only one car is connected to the device, the exhaust gases can not flow back into the garage by the metal tubes at which are not connected with a car.
I claim A ventilation means for garages, comprising in combination a ventilation pipe, silencers, one for each car, mounted on said ventilation pipe and projecting to the outer side of the garage, flexible metal tubes branching from said ventilation pipe and designed to beconnected to the exhaust pipes of the motor cars and shutting off valves in said ventilation pipe for preventing the back flow of the exhaust gases into the garage.
