This invention relates to a brush and perouter face of which the wedge shaped lockt'ains particularly to a shaving brush having ing l-ip flanges e t nd means for attaching atube of shaving cream The forward portion of the bristle carryand feeding the contents through the brush ing portion 2 is tor-med to provide a recess 5 for ('1 in the center of whichrecess the nozzle 7 to The primary object of this invention is is located which nozzle aligns with a centhe provisiom-iu a manner as hereinafter set trally extending passage or bore 8 through forth, of a shaving brush having a. holthe body of the head 1, to convey the cream low handle and further having the brush into the bristles 9, as'requiredd As shown- !0 carrying shank formed to receive one end the bunched ends of the bristles 9 are seon of a tube of cream and to pass the cream cured in the recessfiand cemented or otherinto the bristles from the rear thereof when wise appropriately held therein. The portion 2 is provided with the the bristles of the brush, and having means flat passage 10 which extends from one side for cutting off the cream supply troin the inwardly beyond the inner end of the nozzle 20 t b 7, as shown in Figure 4. In this passage The invention will be best understood a sliding cutoff 11 is fitted, which cutoff from a consideration of the following deis provided with a downturned portion 12 tailed description taken infconnection with which abuts the side of the portion 2 when the accompanying drawing forming a part the cutofl is in and enables one to easily at of this specification, with the understandcatch hold of the cutoff to withdraw the ing that the invention is not confined to any same when desired. strict conformity with the showing ot the The handle carryingportion 3 is, as above. drawing but may be changed and mod fied stated, of greater diameter than the porso long as such changes and-modifications tfion 2 and is shaped to. form a receptacle 30 mark no material departure from the salient having, the vertical wall portion 13 andthe 5 features of the invention as expressed in the concaved bottom 14 which inclines toward appended claims. the center and the opening 8. The
Figure 4 is. a transverse section taken uphead 17 is relatively heavy and is provided on the line 44 of Figure 1 and, with the outstanding ribs 18 which are de- Figure 5 is a view of the top of a. soap signed to fit in the grooves 15 in the bottom cream tube of the type adapted to be used 14 of the brush body. The tube 16 is in the brush embodying this invention. equipped with the usual threaded discharge Referring now to the drawing in detail nozzle 19 which is designed to be screwed wherein like numerals of reference indiinto the threaded passage 8 to hold the head cate corresponding parts throughout the portion of the cream tube in position in the numeral 1 indicates generally the head of receptacle portion 3 of the brush body.
50 the brush which as shown, constitutes a. eir- WVhen the tube nozzle 19 is screwed into cular bristle tuft holding portion 2 and a the passage 8, the ribs 18 will be forced handle cap engaging portion 3, the portion into the grooves 15 and the tube will thus 3 being of materially greater diameter than be locked in position. The end of the disthe portion 2 as shown and terminating in charge nozzle 19 of the tube terminates just 56 the straight annular portion 4 about the above the cutofi slide 11 when the tube is no fixed in Figure 1.
After a tube of the cream has been placed in position as shown, the handle 20 of the brush is fitted in position over the tube. This handle 20 as shown is in the form of an elongated shell open at one end and'having a flange 21 at the open end from which inwardly projecting fingers extend as indicated at 22. When the handle is fitted in position these fingers are placed at the points 23 which brings them beneath the thin end of osition as is clearl shown in an adjacent securing flange 5 and, when the handle 20 is given a quarter turn the fingers 22 willpass along the curved underside of a flange and will draw the handle securely into position upon the brush body. I
From the foregoing description it will be readily apparent that when one desires to use the brush, the handle 20 is removed and the cutoff slide 11 drawn outwardly whereupon the tube 16 is compressed to force some of the cream therefrom throu h the nozzle 7 and into the brush bristles. The slide is then re-inserted to cutoil' the flow of cream and the handle cover 20 replaced upon the brush body whereupon the brush can be used in the usual manner, the cream working its way down between the bristles as the brush is used. The slide 11 is provided at its inner end with the downturned portion 24 which acts to prevent its complete removal.
Having thus described our invention what we claim is a i 1. A shaving brush, comprising a sectional shell forming a body and a brush stock separable from each other, said stock having a central passage therethrough, the outer portion of the passage being tapered and its remaining portion threaded, said stock further formed with a radially disposed fiat passage extending from the outer face of the stock to and intersecting said central passage at the point of joinder of the tapered portion thereofwith the threaded portion thereof, a collapsible tube having an externally threaded open mouth corresponding to the inner threaded portion of the passage for detachable engagement therewith, and a slidable cutoff member mounted in said flat passage and normally extendingacross the open mouth of said tube for closing said mouth. I
2. A shaving brush, con'iprising a sectional shell forming a body and a brush stock separable from each other, saidstock having a central passage therethrough, the outer portion of the passage being tapered and its remaining portion threaded, said stock further formed with a-radially disposed flat passage extending from the outer face of the stool; to and intersecting said central passage at the point of joinder of the tapered portion thereof with the threaded portion thereof, a collapsible tube having an externally threaded open mouth corresponding to theinner threaded portion of the passage for detachable engagement therewith, a slidable cutoff member mounted in and normally extending across the open mouth of said tube for closing said mouth and saidslide having its inner end provided with means to prevent the complete withdrawal thereof from said stock.
In testimony whereof, we afliX our signatures hereto.
