GAME
Application filed September 2 1927. serial No. 217,185;
This invention relates to a game, particu larly a social game, and comprises "a board or base on which around a central field" or goal are arranged in concentric annular rows series of'play fields ol'rhomboidal or rectangular shape and at the outermost row a plurality of starting or initial fields of different colors. The play fields are partly blank or white spaces, partly solid or black spaces and partly bear different designs printed or painted thereon, such as baskets, crosses, flowers, rings, hearts or the like. The game is adapted to be played with chips or checkers of colors corresponding to those of the starting fields and which are adapted to be moved in circular manner first along the outer row, then, unless caused to move back in the same row by an obstruction indicated by the black field, or jump over either outwardly or inwardly to an adjacent row by the obstruct-ions indicated by the baskets, rings and flowers, on completion of a row be passed over to the adjacent inner row,
then to continue in this row until completed except for the irregular moves due to the obstructions mentioned, and so on until the central field is reached.
This game has the advantage that it is an entirely impartial game which excludes de ceit and in which each player must complete the game.
My invention will be more fully understood by reference to the accompanying drawing which shows a plan view thereof.
On the board or base I provide a central field or goal a which in the present embodiment of my invention bears the design of a red heart. Arranged around this central field in a concentric manner are a plurality of annular rows of play fields which in the present example are of rhomboidal shape. Of these fields some are blank or white such as 0, some solid or black 0 some bearing designs such as crosses c flowers 0 red hearts 0, rings 0, and baskets 0''. At or adjacent the outermost row of play fields are uniformly distributed a plurality of starting or initial fields (Z', 6Z2, d and d in number corresponding to the number of persons who are to play the game, In the present example there are four starting fields printed in different colors, thus field (Z being red, d green, d yellow and d blue. The play fields coinciding in radial direction toward the goal with the initial fields are inade of corresponding color, as a red, 0 green, 0 yellow and c blue. The direction of the movement front each initial fields toward the goal is indicated by correspondingly colored arrows 7, f f and i There are also correspondingly colored arrows g, g and adjacent the radial fields 0*, 0 0 and 0 and black or uniformly colored arrows h between certain play fields of different series, to indicate where the players according to the rules of the game as will be later described, can pass from one series of" play fields to another.
The game is played as follows After throwing the dice the one with the greater number of points starts the game on the starting field of the color corresponding to that of the central field or goal, in the present case at the red starting field. The
first player uses a chip of the corresponding color or hearing adesign of a red heart. The other players pick their colors. The number of play fields to be advanced by the player eachtime is also determined by throwing the dice. If, as will be hereinafter described, the player does not land on any of the obstructions denoted by the black or design bearing fields, he will continue to move in a circle first along the outermost row, then on completing said row pass along the correspondingly colored arrows f, F, f or f as the case may be onto the adjacent inner row and so on until he reaches the central field a.
If any one of the players happens to land on a black field he must move back in the same row a number of play fields corresponding to that denoted by the thrown die. If any player, except the first player happens to land. on a field bearing a basket 0 he must move to an adjacent outer row in the direction of the arrow h. The first player who is not obstructed by the basket bearing field encounters an obstruction when landing on a cross bearing field 0 and must then likewise move to an outer row in the direction of the respective arrow it. Any player landing on a flower field 0 is entitled to move in his row double the number of points of the thrown die. Any player landing on a heart bearing field c is entitled to move in the direction of the corresponding arrow h to an inner row. On completing a circle in each row the players can pass over to an adjacent inner row along the corresponding arrows g, 9 g and 9 When any player reaches the central field a he remains on that field until the next player reaches the field and so on. The last two to reach the fieldare the losers.
What I claim is T As an article of manufacture, a social game to he played with colored chips, comprising a base having a central field or goal, annular rows of play fields arranged concentrically to said central field, some of said play fields being blank, some solid, some bearing designs, starting fields corresponding in color withsaid chips at the corners of the outermost row of play fields, the play another.
fields coinciding in radial, direction'relative the central field with the initial fields being of corresponding color, arrows corresponding in color with'the initial fields indicating the direction of movement from the corresponding initial fields toward the central fields, correspondingly colored arrows adjacent the radial fields and uniformly colored arrows between certain play fields of different rows indicating where the players are to pass from, one series of play fields to In testimony whereof I ai'fix my signature.
