ANCHOR-ROPE PULLEY.

Objects pertaining to details and econ omies of my invention will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure embodying the features of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application in Which:

In the drawing the sectional views are taken looking in the direction of the little arrows at the ends of the section lines and similar numerals of reference indicate similar parts in all of the views.
Referring to the drawing, 1 represents a boat and 2 an anchor. My improved anchor rope pulley comprises a base plate 3 having spaced side or cheek pieces 4: projecting upwardly therefrom. The grooved pulleys 5 and 6 are mounted on the journals 7 carried by the cheek pieces 4. The anchor rope 8 is passed over the front pulley 5 and under the rear pulley 6.
The pulleys are so disposed relative to each other that the pressure is applied to the rope at the nipping point of the rollers indicated by the line 9 passed through the journals thereof. By nipping point it is not meant that'the rollers contact but refers to the point of greatest pressure on the rope passing between the same. The rear pulley is disposed with its journal somewhat above the plane of the journal of the front pulley but approximating that plane so that the rope is caused to embrace a substantial portion of both pulleys, thereby pressing opposite sides thereof against the pulleys and imparting a reverse bend thereto as the rope approaches and leaves thepressure point of the rollers. v
This results in a very effective wringing or forcing of the Water from the rope without requiring severe pressure on the rope as it passes the nipping point of the rollers. My improved anchor rope pulley is very simple and compact in structure and very efficient as a wringer.
Having thus described my invention what I claim -as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a structure of the class'described, the combination of a pulley block, a front pulley over which the rope is passed, and a coacting rear pulley under which the rope is passed, said pulleys being disposed relative to each other so that the rope is caused to embrace a substantial portion of the rear side of the front pulley and the rope is subjected to pressure as it passes between the pulleys and opposed sides of the rope are pressed against the pulleys by the hauling stress on the rope as it approaches and leaves the nipping point of the pulleys.
2. In a structure of the class described,
the combination of a pulley block, and front and rear grooved pulleys disposed so that a rope may be passed over the front pulley and under the rear pulley, said pulleys being disposed in such relation to each other that a pressureis applied to the rope as it passes between the pulleys and a reverse bend is imparted to the rope as it approaches and leaves the nipping point of the pulleys.
