COMBINATTON SHAVING UTENSIL.

The present invention relates to razors and more particularly to a combination saftey razor and shaving cream tube.

Some of the objects of the present invention are to provide a simple and efficient device for Shaving purposes; to provide a.

' razor as a part of a shaving cream tube and which parts are always assembled ready for use; to provide a safety razor removably mounted upon a shaving cream tube as a. handle and having means for squeezing a tube to eject shaving cream therefrom; and

, to provide other improvements as will hereembodying one form of the present invention; Fig. 2 represents a rear elevation of same; Fig. 3 represents a section on line 33 of Fig. 2; Fig. 4 represents a plan of the assembled razor holder and handle; and Fig. 5 represents a side elevation of the same.

Referring to the drawings, one form of the present invention consists of a tube 10 of the type generally employed for dispensing shaving cream and of cylindrical contour terminating at one end in a cap discharge outlet 11 and at the other end by a seal formed by pressing and overlapping the pinched sides of the tube to form a flat transverse extension 12. This extension 12 forms a part of a means for attaching a razor blade holder 13 to the tube 10 and the other part of this means consists of a loop 14, preferably of spring material, carried by the holder 13 and extending along one side thereof in spaced relation to readily permit the insertion of the extension 12 into the loop 14 as will be understood.

The blade holder 13 in the present instance consists of a body part 15 which forms one side of the loop 14 and has attached thereto a blade retaining flange 16 which is outwardly spaced from the face of the body 15 with its free edge closer to the face of the body than the base, in order to form a tapered slot 17 conforming to the shape of a razor blade 18 taken in transversesection. Preferably the flange 16 is of spring material which will flex to permit the insertion of the razor blade 18 and after it has been fitted into place will exert sufficient pressure to retain it in operating position. The blade 18 is wider than the flange 16 so that the cutting edge 20 of the blade projects sullieicntly beyond the edge of the flange to rest against the face of the user and function in the desired manncrfl In order to protect the face of the user from the cutting edge 20, in case it should be positioned at an improper angle for hair cutting purposes, the body 13 is provided with a plurality of teeth 21 which 'aresuitably spaced apart and form collectively a guard which extends beyond the edge of the blade 18. It should be noted ,also that this row of teetha-re all curved in the san1e'di rcction away from thecuttiug edge 20, so i that in the use of the holder this guard will ride smoothly over the face without'interfcring with the proper and desired cutting action of the blade 18. Thus in assembled condition of the holder 13and the blade 18, the cutting edge 20 of the latter is parallel to the ends of the guard teeth 21 but rear-- wardly spaced therefrom a distance ncces sary to bring the blade to angle of cutting position on the base when the guard teeth 21 are held pressed against the face.

In connection with the holder 13 it will be noted that the back portion thereof is provided with openings 22 at suitable intervals, and these are for the purpose of permitting the holder to be readily cleaned by placing it under a stream of running water. Also it will be noted that the loop 14 is outwardly flared as shown at 23 to conform v to the tapered end of the tube 10, whereby the holder can be pressed further on the tube to eject the cream from its discharge outlet 11. Thus the loop 14 serves not only as a spring clip for clamping the holder to the tube but also becomes a squeezing element for compressing the tube and causing its contents to be forced toward the discharge end.

It should also be noted that the face of the body 15 disposed toward the loop 14 is provided with a longitudinal rib 24 which acts as an abutment to engage the side of the tube when the latter enters the loop 14 in order to tilt the body so that the blade cutting edge 20 is held slightly away from the tube and in convenient position for use. This action is shown in Fig. 5 and Whatever position the body takes upon the tube as it is moved along to different locations, the blade 18 Will always be disposed at a desirable cutting angle. w I

In assembling the shaving device of the present invention, (a tube 10 of shaving cream, preferably of the beard softener type, requiring no brush, is attached to the holder 13 by pressing the extension 12 into and partly through the loop 14 of the holder, the insertion being made from the guard side of the holder in order to bring the cutting blade of the razor into position for use. The parts are now held 'last together by the interfitting ofthe extension and the springclip loop 14 and cannot be separated by the ordinary pressure applied to the blade during the shaving operation. As so assembled, the tube 10 becomes the handle of the razor and since the extension 12,01 the tube is capable of being flexed, the angular position of the holder can be adjusted to suit the angle of the individual user by simply bend.- ing the extension to the proper angle. After using, the holder can be quickly slipped off of the tube and held under run= ning Water to cleanse it, after Which it can. be replaced on the tube and is ready. for use againat any time." y n It will now be apparent that a complete unitary combination safety razor'and soap tube hasibeen devised, wherein shavingopeu ations are expedited and an outfit provided which may be carried ing the pocket for traveling purposes Without the trouble of using a brush and the inconvenience of pack inn and taking care of a Wet brush after USE.
