Application filed This invention relates to a steel engraving printing machine for the mechanical printingof steel-engraved printed products, for instance congratulation cards, visiting cards, heads of letter paper 'and the like.- .The
printing machines of thisytype which have become known are rather expensive owing to their complicated construction and to their ,heavy weight.
The steel engraving printing machine according to the invention is distinguished by light weight and considerable output so that it is a steel engraving printing machine specially adapted. for small and medlum printing offices. The most essentlal characteristic feature of the new steel engravlng printing machine is the extraordinarily simple driving mechanism for the movements of the element which exerts the printing pressure and also for the inking and wiping mechanism. In order to obtain a high printing pressure, a platen with especially long lever arms is provided in the improved steel engraving printing machine in opposition to machines of known type, the platen being controlled by a link system of the simplest kind.
An embodiment of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying 21o drawing in which Fig. 1 shows the improved printing press in side elevation in the position of printing. Fig. 2 is a similar view, the elements being in the laying on position.

The driving mechanism as above described may beused evidently also for book printing machines, oflset printing machines, intaglio printing machines, or other printing ma chines. These applications of the driving mechanism form part of the invention.
I claim 1. A steel engraving printing machine comprising in combination, a two armed platen, a comparatively long lever arm of said platen said lever arm having a longitudinal guide slot, an inking and Wiping mechanism, and a lever system for controlling said platen and said inking mechanisms.
2. steel engraving printing machine comprising in combination with the machine frame, a driving shaft journaled in said frame, a crank disk on said driving shaft, a crank on said disk, a crank rod, a pivot pin at the outer end of said crank rod, a two armed platen having a comparatively long leverv arm, a driving lever for said platen, an inking and wiping mechanism, a lever system for operating said inking mechanism from said crank disk, a block holder, rods carrying said block holder, and a pivoted lever for operating said block rods, said last mentioned lever and said driving lever for the platen being operated from said pivot pm at the end of said crank rod.

crank disk on said driving shaft, a crank on said disk, a crank rod, a pivot pin at the outer end of said crank rod, a two armed platen having a comparatively long lever arm with a longitudinal curved slot, a driving lever for said platen pivotally fixed at the lower end to the machine frame, a pin at the top end of said driving lever engaging with said 1 slot of the platen lever, an inking and wiping mechanism, a lever mechanism for operating said inking mechanism from said crank disk, a block holder, rods carrying said block holder, a'link at the lower end of said rods,a lever pivotally fixed to the machine frame and hingedly connected to said link and having a longitudinal slot, said last mentioned leVer and said driving lever for the platen being operated from said pivot pin at the end of said crank rod said pivot pin engaging with the said longitudinal slotof the pivotally fixed lever for the block holder.
