'I'ENTON, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR T0 FEN'ION TOOL AND DIE 00., OF FENTON,- IICHIGAN, A CORPORATION OF MICHI- i GAS-BURNING STOVE.
a ummafilea August 27, me. minim 131,955.
My invention relates to improvements in gas burnersfor stoves employing a hydrocarbon fuel. s
Theyobject is to provide a stove having a a hydrocarbon fuel reservoir'and a plurality of gas burners, with improved distributing connections. leading from the reservoir to the several burners and adapted to so deliver fuel to the various gasburners as to insure the maximum j efficiency of combustion at all times at each, burner with. the minimum consumption of fuel and wherein the fuel distributionis so equalized that each burner receives its required proportion of fuel to'enable it to function in the most highly satisfactory manner. I
Other specific ob'ects and advantages will more fully appear rom the following specifi cation descriptive of the illustrative embodiment of my invention shown in the accompanying drawing and defined in the appended claims. H
In the drawing: n l Fig. 1 is a plan of a stove provided with Fig. 2 is a perspective of a portion ofthe gas distributor.
.Fig. 3 is a crosssectional view through i the distributor.
Fig. 4 is a perspective of another portion of the distributor. i Instoves of the type to which my invention pertains, a supplyof a suitable hydrocarbon fuel is carried within-a reservoir indicated herein by the reference character 10. Thestove hasa plurality of burners 12, four of which are hereshown asarranged substantially equidistant from a gas distributor head 14. A fuel pipe 16 leads from thereservoir 10 to the distributor 14. n This fuel inlet pipe passes over one of the burners which is provided with a fuel pan, whereby the fuel passing through the inlet is gasified in a manner well known. Valve mechanism terminating in a square stem 18 is provided. This stem 18 is adapted to re to the several burners after it has been gasi fied and is concerned with the construction of the distributor 14: and its arrangement with respectto and communication with the several burners 12. l
My improved distributor comprises a pair of annular, complementary, threadedly engaged sections 22 and 24.. Section 22 has a 1,671,618 l UNITED" STATES PATENT o pheric opening. Side wall portions extend outwardly from this opening.
Section 24 is provided with an interiorly projecting radi wall flange 32. having an axial opening 34. This section 24 constitutes an upper chamber which. receives the fuelmixture after the air has mixed with the broken up particles of hydrocarbon fuel.
This fuel mixture passes through the axial opening 34 formed in the baffle 32 into the chamber 22.
, Chamber 22 isprovided with a plurality of outlets '36 spaced substantially an equal distanceapart, oneleadin to each burner. A' conical deflector or ba e 38 extends upwall flange 3 wardly axially from the chamber 22 through the opening 34 in the battle plate 32 into the chamber 24 as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. This conical deflector is ositioned axially with respect to the chamlier 22 and the outlets leading therefrom. V Y
The outlets 36. are separated from each other by tapered wall portions40 which extend from the conical deflector to the side wall of the distributor. The gaseous. fuel breaks thereover as it enters the. outlets 36.
In my improved construction air is mixed with the fuel in the tubular inlet 30 of the distributor. This fuel mixture enters the upper chamber 24 which serves as an intermediate fuel gas mixture storage reservoir and feeds gradually throlmh the restricted opening 34 into the lower chamber 22. The gas mixture is directed by the baflle cone 38 and over the tapered walls 40 into the respective outletsv 36 which lead to the burners so that the amount received by the various burners is equalized and the supply is maintained substantially constant in order that the maximum efliciencyof each burner will be maintained at all times and under varying conditions.
' I claim:
1. In a stove of the character described having a liquid fuel reservoir and a plurality of burners, a fuel gas distributor positioned substantially equidistant from each of the several burners comprising an upper chamber communicating with the reservoir to receive fuel therefrom-after the same has been mixed with air and a lower chamber communicating with the upper chamber through a restricted passageway and having a plurality of substantially equidistant fuel outlets, one leading to each burner, and a cone shaped deflector extending upwardly from the lower chamber through said restricted passageway into the upper chamber.
2. In a stove of the character described having a liquid fuel reservoir and a pinrality of burners, a gas distributor positioned substantially equidistant from each of the several burners comprisin two chambers communicating with each other through a restricted opening, one chamber communicating with the reservoir to receive fuel therefrom after the same has been mixed with air and the other chamber provided with a plurality of substantially equidistant fuel outlets, one leading to each burner, and a cone shaped deflector extending from the one chamber through the re-. stricted opening into the other chamber, said cone shaped deflector positioned axially with respect to said outlets.
3. In a stove of the character described having a liquid fuel reservoir and a plurality of burners, a gas distributor comprising two chambers separated by a bafile plate provided with a restricted axial opening, one of said chambers provided with an inlet leading to the reservoir which inlet has an atmospheric opening, said other chamber provided with an outlet to each burner and a cone shaped deflector 'projecting through the restricted axial opening in the baffle plate into the first chamber.
4. In a stove of'the character described having a liquid fuel reservoir and a plurality of burners communicating therewith, a fuel gas distributor positioned between the reservoir and the burners comprising a pair of complementary threadedly engaged anffrom each burner, said distri nular sections, one of said sections provided with an interior-l projecting axially apertured radial wall flange positioned in proximit to the other section and an inlet pipe leading to the fuel reservoir which inlet pipe is provided with an atmospheric opening, said other section provided with a plurality of substantially equidistant outlets, one leading to each burner and an axially positioned deflector projecting through the axial aperture in the wall flange of the first mentioned section.
5. In a stove of the character described having a liquid fuel reservoir and a plurality-of burners fed therefrom, a fuel distributor between the reservoir and the burners, positioned substantial] equidistant gutor comprising upper and lower annular chambers threadedly engaged together, one of said chambers having an inlet leading to thefuel reservoir which passes over one of the burners and is provided with an atmosphere inlet; theother chamber provided with a plurality of substantially equidistant outlets, one leading to each burner, and abafileplate interposed between said chambers provided with a restricted fuel opening and means arranged with respect to said opening to direct the mixture passing therethrough equally toward the several outlets.
6.
